The number of FAN LEAVES

Does anyone have any input on the number of fan leaves in one grouping.

Many of mine have 11 leaves, others have nine and a few have seven, I've pruned the three and five groupings off.

More fan leaves stronger the dope?

Nope it is correspondent to the amount of lights it receive on that leaf when it grow up. If you have a 11 then I think you are using a HID light.

yah.. i don't think the number of fingers has much to do with anything, but i have noticed that as a plant matures, it will get more fingers the older it gets.. for instance, my last plants started out with just three sets of fingers, and as it grew and got older, the leaves would develop more fingers.. i think it ended with maybe 11 or possibly 13 fingers on each of some of the branches..

Its all genetics. I've never seen an 11 blade leaf on any of my crops.
you've never seen 11 blades, that's interesting.

In talking with some experienced growers they said some of the dopest shit has 15 blades.

And my plants are from bag seed, but from a bag of kill. In the half ounce there were only seven seeds and it was some great ass weed.

So I'm thinking that . . .

1. I might have all fems here

2. These plants smell to high heaven in veg. That has got to stand for something. All I've heard is that plants really do not smell in veg. These babys do. They stink up my whole basement and they are pretty isolated in a small area. And if you touch the stems, wholy fuck it smells like the dankyest shit eva.

sativas have more fan blades per grouping than indicas.

Does that not support my point? You will have to have serious amount of light to get 15 blades, and hence the plant got so much light that it produce tons of resins. I would think he is growing outside to get 15 blades, or he has achieved fusion in his growing closet......:bigjoint:

IMO these plants are at least mostly Indica. They are very compact but the biggest fan leave is quite a bit larger than my hand.

The fingers are quite wide as well which is more indicative of Indica too.

But the real issue is these plants are too close together in a six site bubbler. Truly breaks my heart because i would love to see each of these babies in their full glory.

Have a look.

What do you guys think? Indy or Sat. These girls remind me of Great White Shark, look at the sharp curved teeth and so many of them. prolly not though

Looks indica dominant to me. Nice fat leaves you got going. Plants look really healthy. Should be a good smoke regardless.
Yea, these plants look amazing and I have very high expectations of the quality of bud. Like I was saying before . . . these fkrs stink bad and man if you touch them forget about it . . .

thanks for all the posts

I read through your thread an noticed how many mentioned that basically there is no correlation between leaf finger count an potency. Now genetics where stated for the count, my question then is this... Is there any correlation between lumens an potency, an if so would a larger count leaf be able to absorb just that % more lumens if the overall surface area was larger than a smaller count leaf?

Also since this thread is on the subject of finger count, Is finger count a sign of maturity? Also, besides genetics can one continue to clone consecutively to potentially increase maturity? What are any bonus benefits from a... say very mature ladi?

It's all genetics, like a few others have said. You aren't going to turn a 4 banger into a hemi by duct taping a turbo charger on the hood...

Benefits of a mature lady, better chances of getting a max. harvest. Bud production is based on genetics as well.

a car analogy, really? Where is the duct tape from? Why turn a 4 cylinder into a hemi(lol), I would save more money wit the 4 banger to spend on my growz! BTW a turbo does not go on the hood!!! Plus who the hell would want to reference a hemi... with a name like DODGE you would think it would be something to avoid!

Not to sure how your trying to tie that analogy in, unless you think a Hemi has genetic superiority?!?

So genetics is like the blueprint of the plant right, an the genetics dictate on how the plant can grow not necessarily how the plant will grow. Is that a good way to understand it?

So here it is again:
Is there any correlation between lumens an potency, an if so would a larger count leaf be able to absorb just that % more lumens if the overall surface area was larger than a smaller count leaf?
Please explain your answer so I may better understand, thanks.
