The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

Hey jberry, i've read through most of this thread and it alone has convinced me to go canna for my first coco grow after switching from diy supersoil due to injury. I've got a couple of questions that i couldn't find specifically and wanted your personal insight on my situation so sorry if i ask a question of you again lol. I've got a multi strain grow going atm, 3 barneys farm lsd, 2 pineapple chunks, 3 pineapple express auto's and one big bud. The big bud is an experiment in getting osmocote to work in coco for mother keeping and is working so far. The other's are all 5 day old seedlings (second serrated set opening). Was just wondering how early you would personally apply rhizo to seedlings? I plan on using the whole canna coco lineup, will this be everything i need or do you suggest adding anything extra? I'm not chasing monsters, all about quality with these girls. Lighting is a 600 hps for now, will be adding more as needed. Also what are your thoughts on the nute schedule for autos? Ie when to feed pk and boost? Thanks for your time, ben

Hi everyone, First time grower growing in canna coco with full line of nutrients. Have just finished reading the majority of 117 page thread, Took a couple days. Must say I have learned alot but still a little in shock with info overload, but all is well. So looking for another opinion. Any help would be grately appreciated.

So i asked this on another site:

Hello everyone. First time grower here looking to hopefully get some help with my watering and feeding in coco. Using the Canna coco line with canna coco using tap water phed down to 6.0 or so. have read people use half RO water and half tap, but i don't have the resoueces for ro water. At least not one readily affordable. So far only used rhizotonic for the youngens out of the dome, but fixing to start up on a and b, but not sure if my water will lock up nutes or what not. have gotten a hold of some humboldt equilibrium and was wondering if this will solve my problem. Any thoughts anyone?Any help would be much appreciated.

Somebody replied:

Pour your tap water into a pot and let it sit for 24 hours this will evaporate the chlorine from the tap water but most likely you wont have to. I have been using tap for a while and no problems but it depends on how good your citys water is.

I added:

Thanks for quick reply. So is letting the water sit out for a day ROing it. And what about using cal mag, or is that just for ro water method. Understand if you don't know but just thought I'd ask. Kewl beans!

and added:

So still not sure if what I'm doing is correct. I've got a reservoir now to dilute chlorine in water. Just let it sit for two days. It's day 24 since cloned. Started watering with canna a & b, rhizo, and cannazyme with a little less than half of what is recomended. I also used about a 1/4 teaspoon of Humboldt equilibrium which is call mag. Some of my leaves, mostly on leaves that were there when clones were taken 24 days ago, are yellowing and browning on the tips, with a few brown spots on actual leaves, at least for one plant. Thought maybe it needed some calcium so thats why i gave them the equilibrium. The tips are also crispy, not sure if light is to close. Right now I'm using 2 4 foot flourescents that are 40 watts each and each give off 1900 lumens. They are ge plant and aquarium that i had lying around that were used for a few months years ago. With that i also got 2 245 watt cfls and 3 others varying in wattage(am waiting for my light setup to arrive so don't want to go and buy anymore).Got 10 clones under these lights, 1/2 Himalayan Gold and 1/2 Super Silver haze. Also some of the plants have purple stems shooting off the main stem, Read it may be a potassium deficiency but not sure. Also not sure what i should use for that as well. I figure if they struggle a little maybe it'll make them stronger, but I'm a newby so i don't really know if some of this stuff may hurt them down the line.

For the most part they look pretty good to me. A couple of them look like champs with there new leaf growage. Have them in plastic bottles rigged for clone transplants. Just transplanted 5 days ago and roots are shooting out, You can see them through the bottle, it's pretty kewl. So here is a report from my city and it's water quality. Any help will be much appreciated. Kewl beans!

i just checked the runoff of my coco as i PH my nutes to 5.7. the runoff is 6.56 my leaves are cupping under and the edges are pointing up. im thinking i have lockout from high PH. im going to recalibrate my combo pen just to make sure and then recheck. any of this make sense? also if i do have to flush to bring down the PH should i use RO with some canna A n B at a very low dose? TY john

Thats about exactly where i'm at. Color is good on most of them, but growth has stopped on a few with what little new growth curling up and browning away, and the ones looking strong have shoots coming out all over the place pointed in different directions.Think I may have transplanted a couple of them too early. Just figured to do them all at same time. Rookie mistake i guess. Think i'm just gonna flush with cannazym and super low nutes and see whats up.
Trying to also figure out when to transplant. How much root growth are you looking at to transfer?

so has anyone found a flowering nute to use along side with the canna line leaving out thier boost? boost is way to expensive!! im about to flower soon and need something to go with coco AnB rhiz and canazyme for flowering.

how many ml per litre should i give my grow of canna A+B?theyre 4 week old but got stunted due to no nutes in the coco coir?(im new at this) should i mix in some rhizotonic to help the roots at this stage too?i,ve reaserched a load now wish i had done so earlier but hayho! you,s guys seem to really know your stuff any help would be really appreciated. i put in 2ml of each a+b into a 2 litre bottle and flushed them through last night should i stick with that for just now or lower the dosage? >>thanks guys!

defently use rizo you can use up to 40 ml per 10l, in the start i woud go for 20 ml pr 10litre. as for a and b i woud stick with your 10 ml per 10 litre who is about 0,5 ec for a few days but you can go higher, up to 27 ml pr 10 litre. start to increase it after a few days and go higher if they look hungry, maybe closer to 1,0 ec. but go there slow i dont want you to burn them mine is also 4 weeks old and im at 20 ml per 10 litre ec 1,0 and they looking good. but use your judgement and the canna nutrient calculator.

Hello folks. nice to see this informative thread once again. ive been away too long.

Im the guy that swears by Boost.
Ive run many different 'recipes', (with the whole canna line), and for me the bottom line is.....when I spend 500 bucks on this goopy green shit, the goopy green shit is gonna give me that 500 back and then some, so I must respectfully reaffirm my disagreement with the 99% of you Boost-bashers, i wont grow without it. However....

....reading through the posts since i was last on here, i am intrigued by the BudXL...has anyone here done a straight up side-by-side? (im guessing not since nobody here buys Boost), So i'll take this one because I wouldnt mind slashing that price tag in half. Gonna track down the XL and watch em fight it out...so check back in a couple months for that if ur curious. (Im quite proficient at this after a year and a half, but by no means an expert, so it does occur to me that more experienced growers here may be doing any number of things to increase yields that are beyond my current aptitude, and this could be the reason that a production increase would be more noticeable to be)

But the real reason I came back here is I have failed to find a clear cut "finisher" to blend nicely with the canna coco lineup, I did try gravity on JB's recommendation, but had more success with Bloombastic. Right now I am in a rotation of Cha-ching, Bloombastic, (about the same results) and about to give Shootin powder a whirl...would like to know what input this forum has to offer. strangely there has been little discussion of this matter in the first 117 pages. What do you people use as a 'Closer'? Any input is valued, thanks in advance, i'll post up again when the XL/Boost challenge is concluded for anyone thats interested..... -corn

Yo Corn. I agree with you in that it seems no matter what I try nothing will ever compare to boost. You may be able to make a concoction out of a bunch of different things that compare. However, for the price and ease of one mix, you can't beat the boost.
I am using Bloombastic with the boost now and it seems to really kick up the production. I think that the Bloombastic is better than the PK myself.
I would love to hear your results from the Budxl experiment. I wanted to try that one next. But I don't run side by sides, I just try it on all the strains and take overall results. Non quantitive. Just by knowing what I usually pull per plant.
Anyways, Good luck Corn and i'll be watching.
Lates.

Edges of your leaves curling up means the plants are having heat stress. They are trying to dissipate too much water. So you have too much heat. Even if you don't have a dehumidifier just run a fun real fast. It will help. Hope it helps.
It does sound like you may be feeding them a taste too much nutes also.

Hey everyone, thanks for a great thread! I'm about to start my first coco (Canna specific) grow in a couple of weeks. Only have grown in soil before. I do have a few questions that I'm hoping someone here can help me with.

1. I'm starting from seed and once they've germinated I'd like to put them directly into 4" pots with Canna coco. I've read it's not considered a good thing to water new coco with distilled water. Is my tap water (150ppm-mostly cal/mag) ok to use with baby sprouts in coco? Or should I dilute my tap water with some distilled to keep the PPM down to another concentration?

2. Is it best in coco to start watering with some A+B (low amounts) right from the start? How about using Rhizotonic from the start with seedlings?

3. On the topic of Rhizotonic, has anyone ever soaked their seeds in it before planting as is suggested on Canna's website?

Would surely appreciate any answers you guys may have.

Whats up guys? Sorry for everyone that hasn't been able to reach me... Hopefully lester, corn, and all the other many smart guys on here have been able to help? Thanks for keeping things alive!

I haven't been on here in months and likely will be unable to answer questions for the near future, BUT I just wanted to stop by and see how things are going... Hope everyone is well. (I will try to pop up more often but cant promise much right now.)
