Im in my first grow so Im not sure what to think, but I am at 950ppm at week four of veg from seed and I think Im seeing N defiency. At the same time I see minor burns on the leaf tips so I think Im getting burns from other nutes other than the N, and I want to bring up my ppm because of the low N, but I cant do that because Ill burn them with all the extra P and K. It does seem kindof strange that H&G would try to have a veg and bloom all in one, rather than two seperate blends for each phase. Either way your making a compromise in the proper NPK ratio. Ive been thinking of using a different A:B ratio but thats not something I shoudl have to do, they should have the right mix figured out alraedy for me. I might just switch to a different company. something with veg specific nutes and flower specific nutes, with no compromise. I dont want my cured buds to taste like grass, and I dont want my vegging plants to be deficient
I find the opposite, I find there is way to much N. During Veg is when u use the most N, is it possible your ph locked or root bound or cal mag def ? Dont fall for the no need to flush crap either..u need to flush, but less then u did before. Dont take my words as gospel but Im on my 10th or 11th grow with it and I have never seen anything close to a N deficiency but i could b wrong.
Peace LM

do u use multi z during weeks 1-3 still? and my biggest thing, do u magic green late into flower. also have u quit using excellerator yet and use GH new rooting enhancer? do u use sweet? have u used pro tec silicate in your mix yet?
Im doing a side by side with multi Z but i dont normally use it. my additives are A and B ..big bud, bud XL, shooting powder. I still use the roots excelrater but only because i bought 1 litre of it..i will look into the GH when i run out. I dont use sweet or silicate..sweet hides the flavor of over feeding and masks the flavor serious smokers want. I just tie up my branches rather then pump more nutes throughem to makem tough..why build stem when u can build bud =) My way seems to work OK for me, I average between 20 to 22 OZs off a 600 in a 4X4 tent. I cant get magic green in ontario canada so i use a cold pressed seaweed as a foiler spray once a week until they stop feeding hard (some time around week 5 or 6) then i back off because i dont want the smell on my pot. Foiler feeding with sea weed up top and big bud below. That combo rocks my garden along as long as you dont over do it.

This is my first grow so I could be making mistakes on many levels and not know it. I can understand you saying you find there is too much N during flower, but is that how you feel during vegg? I dont know for sure if what Im seeing is burn or not, its very minor and what really confuses me is how it is so isolated, one leaf on one plant will look raveged whereas on a whole everything looks beautiful, if you look at a picture of my plants they look super healthy, but on closer inspection Im having small problems with particular leaves. Maybe Im just over analysing and this is normal. Maybe the yellow hue means Im ready to bump up my ppm, but I am already at 1000ppm and only 4 weeks in from seed, so I figured I was pushing it already. I just started a Journal thread in so Ill see if I can figure out how to get a link in my signature. I have been running a test on half my plants using 2/3 A and 1/3 B for 2 weeks now and all the plants look the same overall. Ill keep running that test and let you all know what happends

I'm popping some seeds in a paper towel and I'm wondering how to feed them once there in 16 oz cups of coco. I've never sprouted anything in coco.

Hey coben I guess its pretty much the same as any other hydro, so unlike soil you actually need to start feeding pretty early on. Obviously don't need to feed for the first litle while as the coytledons will have enough energy store. go very dilute at the biginning with your nutes. I germinated my seeds in paper towel 100% germination rate, but I moved the sprouts into the jiffy pellets. The same principals apply though

with coco you use 5.8 pH
If your putting spouted seeds straight into 16 ounce cups I would think 200ppm for the first feed should be enough. You might be able to bump it up in a week depending on how your plants look. Im just guessing but I think I did something pretty close to that and my plants did alright(I think I went closer to 300ppm and had a bit of burn actually)

Does anyone use superthrive B1 with their H&G? Does anyone know of a way to safely bring the N down during flower without causing other deficiencies?

House and Garden says for seeds in coco, 2.5 ml.coco A and B; 1 ml roots excel. once they have been popped in a paper towel.ph 5.8

A little research ive done by running half my plants at 1/3 B and 2/3 A with the other half being equal parts being A and B. 5 weeks into veg now and Ive been doing this test since the beginning. I see absolutely no difference in any of the plants, I could keep going with the test but seeing no benefit to it and risking deficencies in other nutrients to do this test so Im going to feed equal parts to all plants from now on. Just thought I would share that with everyone, has any done a similar test with 2/3 B and 1/3A during flower?

Cheers all :)
Been running a hg grow and just started to notice a calcium def on one of my four plants. I'm due for a res change and will up my cal mag, but thought I would bring it up here. My res is running a tad hot as it is, and I'm a bit surprised that I would develop a Ca issue.
I'm starting week four 12/12 today. Development is excellent for these bubba kushs considering that they are only 23 days, but like I said, some of the top leafs, the ones that are getting the most light are developing a ca def. You can see the ca def. on the first pic top right leaf in the back. Let me know what you think guys :)

Pot uses lots of cal mag during the stretch. No matter what nute company you use your probably going to have to add a cal mag supplement at some point, different strains use more and some use less. I grow in promix with added perlite so i just add some lime to the soil when i mix it up..that covers the cal mag almost to the end...and it can help with any PH problems u might have. Growing pot really is easy if u just dont over do it, less truely is more.

BTW they look beautiful unity, what do u think about pot not really yellowing and being harvested while everything is so green and full of chlorophyll ??

Cheers lilman, you know, I've been using hg for a long time, just not by itself. So I am used to plants that stay rather healthy looking throughout their life cycle. I keep my medium at the same ec as my res, meaning I feed enough to not have ec spikes in my medium (hydroton). I think for that reason I do not have chlorophyll tasting buds. I also do not give them a complete flush for 2 weeks with 0ec water. I rather just bring my medium down to about .4ec and keep them happy :) By the end of my grows they usually look a little banged, but not bad (or good as some think ha) Here is a view pics of a recent masterbubba grow I did:
IMG_8807.jpgIMG_8805.jpgIMG_8804.jpgIMG_8803.jpgIMG_8802.jpgIMG_8800.jpg

I have also tested taking some early buds while they are still getting their 2.0ec, and yes, at that level I can taste a little, but by far not as bad as some of the shit I taste from dispensaries.

I've been keeping a detailed journal on my H&G grow at https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/487154-blue-mystic-house-garden-600-a.html

It's been an experiment of trial and error, but now on the third week I've got the hang of it. With H&G, you gotta be a little on the conservative side. It burns the plants pretty easy. This is also my very first grow.

My experience has been the same, and my res would run 'hot' ('normal' feeding) if I didn't have my dehumidifier drain back into my main res. That accounts for about 1 1/2 gallons a day of addback water. With that amount of addback water my res level goes down about 1/2gallon a day and my ec remains about the same all week. I'm not advocating doing this, some say that the condensation water from the dehumidifier is not pure enough bla bla bla, whenever I measure it though it reads freaken pure on the meter. One just needs to sanitize the dehumidifier (coil, drain and bucket) every so often to make sure no mold, bacteria is developing in the dehumidifier, or for the diy'er add a uv bulb to the coil area of the dehumidifier. Yesterday, at beginning of week four, my res calls for 10ml a/b, which seems a bit high for my taste at this point in my grow, I notice a tat of tip burn right under the light, but none anywhere else. So for know I kept my a/b at about 8.5 ml. To be honest though, I have been getting this tip burn directly under the light with all my grows, my buddy told me that they make a little diffuser for the light, I think I will give it a shot. Here is a pic and a link:

Funny, I was just looking at the difussers yesturday, about $30. well worth the price... Plan on ordering me a one, they spread the light out better and get rid of the 'hot spot' so you can lower your lamp...

Nope, just heard about them, and researched 'em. I have a grow cab w/ a 600w, can use all the help I can get... Theres plenty of light and I can keep it about 85 deg. but theres alot of stress in that little box... 3x2x4

So, since it's slow in here I'll post more pics of my current grow. I'm using strictly hg nutes and have just started Budxl about 3 days ago.
One of the plants is a little deficient ca, but it has been addressed best i can without jeopardizing the other plants.

The plants are currently 27 days from 12/12:

27daysflower.jpgIMG_9838.jpgIMG_9846.jpgIMG_9841.jpgIMG_9845.jpgIMG_9842.jpgIMG_9844.jpgIMG_9843.jpgIMG_9847.jpg

One more thing, I usually do not have air stones in my res, but I did add a view several weeks ago. At my last res change however I noticed that either my A component of aqua flakes or amino treatment (possibly a combination of both) came out of solution. That was most certainly caused by the air stones!!!! I turned them off changed the res and voila, everything is staying in solution. There is a good chance that that is what caused my ca def so watch out!!!!

Anyone use Bio 1 Comp? I recently bought a new bottle and it's clear instead of brown as in my last bottle. Formulation change?
