So little baby jesus was raised being told he waz the son of "god" and being taught from his mom..and step dad..since there was the miracle insemination right.. so all jesus is taught was what he learned growing up from them and others around him..so they really were not HIS teachings. .true...? more or less her was indoctrinated into this religion thing since an infant

As far as I've read, this hypothesis is not followed by many in the field. I do think the Romans usurped the growing power of Christianity, but they didn't fabricate it. These stories were around for centuries before Jesus existed (or not). Constantine joined due to his mother.

Did a guy named Jesus exist? Yes, I met him on a roofing crew.

Did a guy named Yeshua exist? Yes it was a popular name at the time.

Was he a philosopher/prophet? Well yeah, it's like asking if someone named John was ever a politician.

Is the biblical account true? Not likely.

If it were true would it prove divinity? Absolutely not.

I don't believe that he has released his work yet. :D

Once it's released, I'm curious to see who pays attention to it!

It will be interesting, but I think it will still be mostly fluff. Unless he's found documents actually saying that that was the plan, he's just speculating. I have to agree with Dr. Bart Ehrman that Jesus did exist. It's the divinity that is questionable.

So it brings about, even if the messiah story is a Roman fabrication, does it matter? Does it change any of Jesus teachings? If Socrates was fiction would it ruin his philosophy?

If scientific fact won't change Christian minds, do you think speculation will?

So who will pay attention? You and I, and mostly other atheists.

I currently belong to the school of thinking that believes Jesus was probably a real person as well, but it's hard to really critique the study without reading it. lol

I guess the real question is what is the credibility of his work....

It's hard to discuss a study when it hasn't been released yet.

Either you're asking opinion, which I gave you, or there's really no point to this thread. If so whatever, I'm just keeping it alive.

Jesus was real because i believe he is real! Regardless of the lack of historical evidence in any historical book other than the fantastical fabrication of the old testament!!! - Says every insane person... ever.

Considering the article will be released before the end of the month, I certainly don't think the thread is useless. What's wrong with a little discussion before we get all the 'meat and potatoes'? :D

I'm glad you gave your opinion, you seem kind of hostile? Sorry to have bothered you?

Ya it's not like a Roman to make up a fantastic story, they just stick to facts. My favorite being Pandora's Box, man that chic was nuts ;)
