Hey guys I would like to know if anyone has flushed plants with boiling water? I recycle my dirt back into a compost tumbler and mix another batch, so would it kill all my little organisms that I try so hard to create? And would it do anything to the plant to benefit the buds? I have some that I started with the Skywalkers and they are about a week out yet. Thanks guys for any input and Merry Christmas to all

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! I just snapped a few pics of my current project and thought that I would share my pics. The pic of the two plants side by side are my Skywalker, on the right, and my C99x on the left. The other two pics are of my Skywalker. If memory serves, I think the schedule said that I am about a month out from flush. This plant is turning out to be huge too. The last time that I measured it it was about 27" or so...and still stretching. Too much heat, the pot is too big, (five gallon smartpot), and didn't prune or cut on it at all. Not the best grow I've had but I'm still learning too. Anyway, any comments or criticisms would be very much appreciated.

I can hear you guys laughing.. lol the reason I ask is I'm interested in the different techniques of curing and have read some interesting science behind it, just curious if anyone has tried it. It's supposed to speed the break down of starches and increase cure time.

Rm3 swears by it and there is science that supports it. I would be worried about it killing your micro herd.

i tried it after reading rm3's thread, it had some effect but not enough for me to keep doing it. the plant seemed to cure quite a bit quicker, but i had to let it sit in the pot for 5 days before i chopped it, so i'm not sure there was really that much advantage to it, honestly

I've been reading his posts and numerous other ones I'm gonna try it on 2 and see what happens. When you did yours @Roger A. Shrubber did you cut the majority of the leaves before the flush ? I'm gonna try it tomorrow when everyone goes home. Thanks guys Merry Christmas

yes, i did take all the fans off, and a few of the easier to get to sugar leaves

Though there may be some significance to the boiling theory, I agree it likely would kill off all the good stuff you worked long to get.

@Mr. Black Thumb: personally I wouldn't do it. That was recommended by a not so reliable grow shop guy in my neck of cyberspace and so because he suggested it, I opted to not do it. My feeling is that you may damage the soil structure by adding boiling water to the soil. However, if you remove the plant from the pot and then drop the base of the plant in boiling water then maybe it would be worth a shot just to see what happens, but I personally wouldn't consider putting boiling water into my pot with soil in it. Just my two cents from a noob. Keep us updated though regardless of what you decide as I would be curious to see how this pans out.

Merry Christmas Uni, I have a couple runts that are on the outskirts of the light I'm gonna try a couple, I'm gonna cut most of the leaves off first I hate cutting wilted leaves then do it. Enjoy your day

i didn't mention that i grow in coco and keep it sterile, so i didn't have to worry about damaging soil i was going to reuse. if you run a microherd and re use your soil i wouldn't do this

Wah, wah, wah.....It's about the cure and nothing else basically (boiling water stop). It does quicken the cure up quite nice. I tried it and if I'm in a hurry for a particular strain in a run to cure out. I'll do it.....I simply don't like limp leaf trimming, so trimming it after the hang dry method is the way to go.

As far as the living soil goes.....If it's organc....You'll return living bio's in the recharge anyway so, so what! Hell, I use AACT full strength as my wetting of the rebuild or even the original build of the soil.....That and the EWC and Steer compost used in the rebuild replaces any dead ones anyway.

If it's synthetic,,,,,Unless your doing periodic AACT applications. You won't have much of an active bio heard anyway! You should be doing a basic Myco rebuild after you do any stripping of excess salt/ferts to reuse that soil anyway....The simple thing would be to use an AACT for wetting down the soil for reuse...Bingo! Living bio's.....


NOW then! Late update.
THESE pics are from Dec. 22nd I must say that just 3 days later the budding has expanded as of Christmas day it's self....Sorry i didn't bring my phone out there yesterday to get the shots of the 3 day change.....I'll do some more today.....to compare what see from this one....

Looks like the plant closest - "center left a tic". may have a spiraling root.....Could maybe be a "bad" nematode causing Knotted roots...Treated for with a fungus like BT.....OR it could be a whorled root....Looks to be behind in development BUT, it is the weaker of the 2 "twin" sisters......Male from the "fem" seeds is long gone!

Every one of these have done a major change in filling out in just 3 days......They did get a little home made tea for blooming at 3-6-5 NPK to boost that soil in the single gallon pot....I'll be giving a bit of that feed to keep the plant happy as the soil is running low on available nutrition about now.....Not up-potting these little auto's from here.....Going to concentrate on bud formation and yield....Adding my formula "sweet" today...lets see if we can get those trich's popping better! Will be doing the "sweet" at other feeding now.....Fert teas as needed by my eye.....

That new pic tomorrow.....More opinion then!
Oh, and yeah. That's a cement mixer for building /re-charging soils in the back ground. I was about to do about a sq yard of re-charge. Takes 4 loads to do it right! That goes into rolling 55g drums for storage.....

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to share a pic of this crazy looking Bloody Skunk from Sweet Seeds. It's got such a funky color, I just wanted to share.

Has a very interesting smell too. Funky fruit punch kind of smell.

I don't have any pollen or CS so it's just going to get smoked but I'm thinking about getting some more of the seeds. From what Sweet Seeds says 85% of them get the red/purple color. Its really dark purple though, even the main stalk is dark purple, no green in the stem at all. I have grown GDP and got some nice purple plants but none were as pronounced as the Bloody Skunk. The buds, leafs, and stems are all purple. I hope that this is good smoke. A lot of purple strains I have had suck in the potency department.

I just started a new grow with some old seeds so I hope they all pop. I'm running 2 Strawberry Bombs, 2 Chocolopes, and 4 Super Skunks. Only the Super Skunk is fem so I hope to get a good ratio of girls out of the rest. I'm hoping to find a mother or 2 for cloning.

I did the same thing some weeks ago. Popped some really old maui seeds and when they popped, 2 of em had weird growth going on, but those 2 were my survivors and are going strongly finishing week 1 of 12/12 as we speak. These old ladys seem tough and have grown out of their mutations so hopefully the smoke is A+.

Really nice looking plant. I'm hoping for the best. Some of these seeds I forgot I even had. I was just looking through my stash because I wanted to start a grow asap because my Sensi Seeds Super Skunks got eaten in their first week of life. I can only suspect it was a cockroach because he was on the rock wool when I opened my tent, sitting right next to the eaten plants. He took the leafs right off and left me with 1'' stems. I didn't even know a roach could eat plants but I cleaned the entire tent and that was the only pest I found. I did dump the soil into my compost pile in case of some eggs or something. I lucked out because I had just enough soil cooking to fill my pots. So I have these seeds germinating right now (4 of the 8 have already popped) and hope to have some nice plants growing in a short amount of time. My current auto grow is really going good. I have 2 Heisenberg Specials, 2 Cheese Auto's, 1 Chronic Ryder and 1 Bloody Skunk. Lots of sweet smells and beautiful trichomes.

Just as an idea: you might want to consider releasing jumping spiders in your grow room. I had some "flying critters" in my grow room and found a rather large jumping spider in the back of my tent that I could not catch so I left it alone. Within a week all of the "flying critters" were gone. Up to that point I was noticing small holes in some of my leaves and once the "flying critters" were gone, no more holes in my leaves...just an idea.

Thanks for mentioning the cockroaches. I had no idea that they would eat these plants. Not that I have a problem with roaches, (knock on wood), but that is great information.
