Classic stoner move. Got home, took the old lights down and put the new hood up, went to plug the reflector into the ballast and it's not the same style of connector. UGH. So now about 4'x4' of plants are only getting sandwich sidelighting between the 600w on one end and the 720w of LEDs on the other. On the bright side, these came in the mail.

Questions for subcool and the nerds:

1. How far should I hang my 1K above my 3rd week of flowering plants? The bulb's about 4-6" from the glass. Never had a 1k before :)

2. What's the best way(s) to keep my plants short if I'm going single or dual cola? I know I can keep the lights down on'em to keep the internodes short and stacked but what else can I do? I don't think I've grown that few of colas since overgrow :) Trying to get a small perpetual sog going.

My hood is aircooled 1k i like mine like 12inches, if it has to it could probably get within 3inches without hurting it , but i like 12 inches, about the sog grow i havent done one, but for sure topping or fimming ur plant should keep it low and bushy, and get ur light as close as possible this may sound like a waste of light or what not but i keep my 1k on my seeds as soon as they pop and as close as i can get them, to keep stem from strectching, i always do it that way, keeps them short and stocky

I find Northern Californian outdoor growing to be very interesting. The ability to create just monster plants, but I think most are doing it all wrong. They grow giant tall balls that will collapse when budded out and must be supported which is difficult and may create mold problems. I say a better solution is to grow the giant plants into four horizontal arms than are fully supported with the center of the plant open. When you have the ability and time to grow monster plants, don't restrict yourself to a giant pruned ball you can't control. Grow horizontal under a screen more like tomatoes. Keep all your cola's at working level. The key is using the long and prosperous veg time training your plant to go horizontal so you can sit back and watch the buds swell like tomatoes at eye level or lower.

i think daves cheese scrog at weeden proved that. some strains do better than others outdoors but you are always going to have a lot of work cut out when you are growing 5lb plants lol

Just want to to shout out my local grow shop ...they sent me home with a bunch of free shit today when picking up my super soil ingredients ... If your in Nashville checkout worms way those guys are cool...to bad ill never use it....

That's when those low trim phenos really come in handy :) I don't wanna think about 2 weeks of straight trimming.... it's bad enough on my lil harvests

Say what I'd be happy as fuck trimming for days. Sooooo much hash makes me glad my lady don't mind helping out. Wish their where special scissors for trimming. My hands get cramped sometimes.:-|
