Theory Testing of Styles

:-P You like watching idiots at play? :o:lol: (thank you ;-))

Gotta say though,, as much as the wife likes to bust my chops on the new "pink light" I've added,,, I'm not very confident in it at all.

I'm sure it's all the years of bright lights making me feel this way, but still.
So far I've added a CFL,, then doubled it.
Today I removed them and made up a free hanging 70w HPS. I'm feeling better now,, but still don't know if the LEDs will work.

SSH is about ready to surrender some clones. They may end up being complete LED grows just to learn the light.

Day 41 / 4

Judgement day for the Buddha

Start 4 days ago ----- start today
37a.jpg 41a.jpg
37b.jpg 41b.jpg

These last 4 days have been under the LED. Seems interesting enough I guess.

Anyways, Judgement day. About 2 more weeks and this girl(?) willbe put into 12/12. That will be 3-4 weeks earlier than others. Reason being, flower time, takes longer being sativa. Really want 2 mos. veg on the sativas (minimum).
At this point (about 6 weeks from raw bean) our plant is about 6 inches high and has a girth of about 9 inches. Normally, sativas are tall and lanky with few branches. We've avoided that with all this madness.
I'm sure for many, I've ruined the plant in their opinion. But, for the guy that likes sativas and no room this may be a benefit,,, if the buds make a good count. We'll work on that.

Under growth;
41c.jpg 41d.jpg

Essentially I think it's looking too healthy, so lets torture it some more. :-P

What we want in the end is a wider, even canopy and with that twig in the middle, it's not going to happen. Presently I'm seeing about 12 potential colas with possibilities of several more if we play it right. Also want to keep them from crowding each other as it grows. And give creedence to more LSTing while in bloom.

So, we done it;
41e.jpg 41g.jpg 41f.jpg
When the main top starts gettin in a upright position, we'll start whacking off some more leaves. The top ones really getting too big. So the sooner the better.
(I'm looking for 18 - 20 main buds when finished and all under 18" high with bud from top to bottom. Guess we will need to wait and see. :o:lol::wink:)

Now we just wait a couple weeks.

Anyone play chess?
That's about what this is going to turn into.
Every leaf removed generally produces a shoot.
In the end you want the max that your system can endured for maximum bud.
You want everything at the same heigth early in flower. You want ample air circulation and light penetration. (believe me, this can get thick!)
Remember, we're growing buds, not leaves.

(just a hobyist game I guess. But productive non the less)

UPDATE; Day 45

LB - 4 days since super topping & last update.

Start--------> end
45a.jpg45b.jpg 45c.jpg45d.jpg

Basicly just more pinning and a bit of trimming up. Frankly, I'm surprised. As mentioned before, normally I would of culled this as a too slow grow. But if one really likes sativas and don't mind a bit of slowness, this may work for limited space / light penetration after all. Pleasantly surprised!

SSH - 8 days since last update
45e.jpg45f.jpg 45g.jpg45h.jpg

Basicly, the best of the lot at this point. Already reached the rim in spots and seeing at least a 1/2 doz. possible clones getting close to ready. Having been pinning and grooming right along,, today we just moved a few pins.

JH - 8 days since...
45i.jpg45j.jpg 45k.jpg45l.jpg

I just love growing Jacks. Soooo hard to do something wrong with it.
45k1.jpg 45k2.jpg
Believe it of not, there are at least a 1/2 doz. clones developing in there to be used in about 10 days or so if wanted.
Basicly just repinned to try and open the middle a bit and topped it looking for a split. Gonna need a decision shortly because the center is too dense. I'll need to establish what willbe clone and dump the rest for the overall good. But, not quit yet.
Noticed the smell is getting really good too. LOL (maturing nicely)

Big disapointment here. I expected this to do best of all,, certainly better than the sativa. This is one of those that if I tried this technique on first, I would of been lead to the conclusion, "Does not work". It hates being groomed or trained in most ways. I've never grown straight indica before that I can remember. Probably not something I would choose. This is only here because it was a free UFO with an order.
At this point I'm pulling it from the grow as such. Any further training / defoliating / etc. will be minimized. Plant will be allowed to grow out as long as it doesn't get in the way or create issues for the others (thinking room) Presently there seems to be 8 runners and probably 2 top splits. 10 colas isn't that bad I guess, but below standard for production on a style like this.
No further updates on this Blue Widow are expected except for maybe a passing mention from time to time. (considered failure)

THOUGHTS;
Still, this is not a always works method. However, on mixed strains it appears to be good. And surprisingly I'm interested in trying more of the LBs.

The "doesn't always work" I have blamed on strain. Figured the more sativa the less effective / more indica the more receptive. I was wrong.
Still don't know why it fails sometimes.

Time to start planning on my next grow.....

I wanna see these bud![/QUOTE]

Me too pal,, me too.

Since one fell out, I'm thinking comparing 2 mos. veg just as good as total grow time being even.
Thought a lot of folks wouldbe making comment. But, I guess there's simply not that much interest in watching a nut job.
Actually looking forward to gabbing my clones and finishing this off and moving on.
