LOL... if it is not true then why the argument??? This book is banned in many countries... I find it funny that when people do this... there must be something. Also according to independent scholars the times to which the new testments were writen vary in times and places... so not sure about all the leaders getting together and writing this book...LOL Also the old testement is basically the tora. Again not sure where you got your information from... as I have never heard of it.

Are you trying to say the bible is accurate because of the people and places? Because that is mainly what makes the bible inaccurate...that and a large group of the world leaders at the time sat down and decided that Jesus couldn't be just a man or the pagan people under constantine wouldn't take up with Christianity the way they wanted the people at the time to. That is also why angels have Halos, and all religions holidays just so happen to be on the same days as the older pagan holidays...it is so people could acclimate to the new religion easier...
So just knowing that most of the bible was made up so people would take to it better let's me know that it is all crap.
I have to agree with Ganjal, whether or not you believe in the divine properties of the events in the bible, the bible does give us the most accurate and complete historical account of early man that we have. It has the entire genealogy of our ancestors. I dont think there are any other books with that info.

Like I said, alot of the stuff in the bible can be explained and proven by science... and no neer, the world isnt 6000 years old.. the earth is billions of years old. Those 7 days were not human days, they were 7 days in gods eyes, which probably equals more time than we can realistically count. The human race however, is about 6000 years old. Before humans, there were other animals like neandrethals and such, and before that was dinosaurs, etc. Its not that difficult.
You have said that a lot of Biblical stuff can be explained and proven by science, but that is still wrong. The Bible has never been a willing friend or suitable subject for science; the antipathy is structural. This is one of your MOs ... you just plop these utter falsehoods into the middle of the community table as if they were such a common-sense fact that they need no comment, no supporting evidence, no cohesive explanations when asked. Your privilege to tell us what's what is no longer backed by credibility. It looks like you're beginning to switch tactics as well, abandoning all pretense of discussion/defense and simply hard-selling your special, jaundiced version of dominionist divisiveness.

No sale. cn

Correction: The Church has never been a willing friend of science.. thats of no fault of the bible. And you say no sale... you disagree that the earth is billions of years old? You disagree that dinosaurs and neandrothals existed?

He didnt come out of nowhere, and the talking snake thing? The bible never mentions a snake, it mentions a serpent, which back then could mean any number of things or kinds of people. It most likely meant a shifty and deceitful person.

I doubt that you've properly even read the Bible, if you can blithely assert that the Bible isn't antiscientific. Science builds from a basis of "we know nothing; let's find out what there is. Question everything; keep what holds up."
Biblical anything works from "Here is a text, a living document, the inspired word of the Most High, the factual basis of everything, and we will brook no dissent". A lesson in circularity in a nutshell: How do we know that the Bible is true and inspired? Because it's written thus ... in the Bible!

So its antiscientific nature, and its promotion of impossible things as fact, makes the Bible a natural enemy of science, with or without the (some say corrupting; some say moderating) influence of churches There is no one The Church and never has been.

And for you to feel entitled to issue a correction, replacing one falsehood with a slightly different one, speaks directly to ... ohnevermind. Insert "polar bear facepalm" pic here. cn

This is how I look at The Creation. Thanks to Darwin, we have a better understanding of modern humans and how we progressed to this point from primates.

The first council of Nicaea is where everyone met with Constantine to decide the Christian Religion as we know it...that just doesn't sit right with me...I mean who are you guys to vote on who Jesus was, and what would get put in the Bible and what could get taken out...
Surely that has to make you wonder.
I mean have you never thought it strange that Jesus' Birthday just so happens to also be the pagan Winter Solstice?
Or why Easter also happens to be the same time as the pagan Spring Solstice?

I get it. Insert tripe from bible, run it through kaendar filter to completely change the meaning to whatever you want, and presto it suddenly conforms to science!

Funny... Kent Hovind has offered 250k to anyone who can prove evolution as we know it today. So far there are no takers. He offers alot information and has challenged many profressors but none take him up on his offer. He believes the earth is 6k years old and has given proof that carbon dating is not an exact science. He is more versed on the subject than I am and would be the best one to look up on videos he has out there about creation science and how todays sciece do not agree or back up one another.

The Book or Revelations specifically speaks of specific events, worldwide and catastrophic, that are not open to translation. .
Specific: Kaendar, a mentally unfit militant jackass who fucks his downs syndrome sister, walked to the hydro store in shitsville, ca to purchase a bottle of snake oil on january 15th 2011.

Jesus specifically says that man will not and can not know when the end of days will be.

Claiming something is not open to interpretation when that something is a text, translated across a multitute of linguistic and historico-cultural contexts, points to the grave lack of understanding possessed by the claimant. the very act of translating opens the door for interpretation, the translator had to interpret. Are you aware that there are words in other languages which have no comparable word in english? its true.

back to specifics...where does your version of revelations SPECIFY the events it predicts?

Kent Hovind is not a scientist. His "creation science" is all creation and no science. cn

If that is true... then why won't professors engage him in a debate if he is a so called fake? I find that odd.

Most scientist today cannot even agree but yet we teach it as fact in schools... again very odd.

I dont think anybody is debating that Christianity was wrung thru the coffee filter of paganism
