"There's something in the water"

In my hydro grow I had serious problems with my water from a well. It started out @ 8.0 PH I switched to store bought distilled water and plants went crazy for it.
However i can not afford water at 1.99 per 2.5 gallons.
What is the best way to treat or filter the well water from my Tap?
Will a Brita water filter help?
I need a cheap and inexpensive way to prepare the water.

Your suggestions are welcome.

leave the water from your well out over night and the pH shouldeven out.

It may not be cheap enough for you, but you can get a ice little RO setup for around $60.oo on Ebay. Well worth it.
