I understand what lolipoping is, he has no canopy though so there was no need to rip off all the fan leaves. Some of his plants are more then 3 feet away from the lights, that's way too far. My 400 watter is 5 inches fro the tops of the plants. He's flowering with a MH, HPS will give you bigger nugs. He's using MG soil with a bit of sand, you should not use time released nutrients and you need at least 30% perlite for drainage.
The grow faq does have advice for some of these, if he did read it I wouldn't have to point these things out...

Difinatley agree with you there GB...with the HPS for flowering totally dif spectrum. 5" did you say with a 400W HPS or MH? Wow.... and it doesn't burn the back of your hand at plant height? Must have some nice cooling on that bad boy... I stay at 1 1/2 to 2 ft dont have nice cooling on mine... might look into it though.
Edit:
Well shyt u edited your so now I have to add more info lol... yes also agreed that MG is shyt some ppl do go.. I know a lot of autoers that use it since its almost perfect for nute timing... myself I can't I like to know what when and how much my plants are getting. I ix my own or buy promix normally promix with seaweed extracts. MG is just way too hot and most probs from noobs I read involve MG and Halogen lights lol

im going to skip all the other no no's and go for "stretching" how far from the light are your plants ? i think you need to get them much closer to you plants .. that will keep the plants from stretching and the facts are "the thicker your stalk the thicker your buds" and then on your next grow try to get away from MG soil and add 30% perlite to it

The 400 watt HPS is in an air cooled hood with a 250cfm inline fan, and a fan is blowing on the tops, it's a bit warm but the leaves show no signs of heat stress

One is to use better nurturance man. If you can go online and order some good nurturance because it will pay its self off in the end. Bigger plant = bigger and a lot more bud. The only way to get bigger, faster growing higher yielding plants is to put money into the right growing conditions. None the less your lights are on the right track… My last grow was a 400 watt HPS, Orange crush hydro with four plants I cropped nine OUNZES! The possibilities are endless, but like all ventures it takes money to make money so good luck brother!
Peace

look, I came to get some advice on a specific problem I was having. That problem has since been sovled by a few changes. As far as telling me I have no basic understanding of the growing process, a few choice phrases come to mind but i wont waste my time insulting you. I've spent months searching forum after forum getting advice on anything and everything I had a question about, the best advice I've gotten from anywhere was this

" Start simple " so I started simple and got myself some cheap over the counter stuff and didnt get all fancy with it. Now perhaps the very first time you grew you had a 1 million dollar hydroponics setup, in which case, GO YOU. I didnt, I started in my closet under pathetic full spectrum 100w plant lights. As I have moved forword I've changed just about everything I've started with, including recently adding platforms to bring my plants closer to the lights

Believe me when I say that as soon as I use up my current supplies I will be switching it up and using more cannabis friendly materials

so once again, I thank you for the advice you've contributed as it pertains to the actual question that I asked. Just for the record my original question was " why are my buds so stringy" the answer I'm happy to report was very simple and thus far has required no FAQ's, all I had to do was even out the tempature flux's and add a second stage fertalizer. It's only been a day or two so I'll take some more pics in a week or so and compare.

So just for the record, Not having years and years of cannabis growing experience does not equal a lack of basic understanding of plant growth. You may have been doing this longer than me, that doesnt make you better than me.

You all have a wonerfull daykiss-ass
