thing from the prairie

i know there are odd things going on my old home province but this is just too odd really: Police bust poppy grow-op in Calgary backyard

i had lots of stuff growing in my back yard but never this kind of stuff beside, i wonder how they figured out in the first place that this wasn't normal poppy growing there??!

Yea i saw that too, interesting bc i was always under the impression that for a reasonable amount of heroin/whatever you would need a phenomenol number of poppies, which only grow in very very dry hot countries....calgary's dry but isnt that hot. anyone care ot elaborate?

well the summer i remember could be damn hot to my standards back then, but on the other hand did we have more then once snow in juli

but no, poppies won't need that much heat to grow, bet Calgary is more then fine for that.

the question is still how they figured what was growing there... there is no label on those poppies and no five-fingered leaf
