Think before you caregive

I'm dropping my patients. I don't know if anyone else is experienceing this but it's drove me out of the caregiving all together: free this and cover my that. I have been growing for myself for some time now and thought I'd share with the world and be a caregiver....anyone thinking about this think HARD. After dealing with jerks from the hood trying to get cheap "zips" to sell their buddies and trying to talk me down on price (guy wanted 100/oz for meds that are top shelf-he complained about my asking 150 almost daily) fool was barely legal in that he was his wife's caregiver to use her card. Then the non-disabled dude on disability who think I'm there to pay their doctor and liscensing fees and give them ultra cheap meds for their weak-ass "chronic pain" who like to say "not quite Ann Arbor good but good bro-can i get for nothing?" Tried this thing out with about 7 people in the last year and I'm folding up on the whole thing. Wasn't trying to make a lot of money but I damn sure wasn't going to donate my time either. I can grow for me and that's enough-I tried you freeloading tools but fact is now boys you're greed got you lined up to pay sweet leaf prices so ENJOY! I had to vent I had really high hopes to provide a small revenue stream for me and a steady stream of quality meds for a few people but the public at large is just not anyhone I want to deal with. Just think hard before you make the jump-its a totally different world going from for-me growing to give-me,give-me growing. :joint:

I'm jsut saying on the paperwork for the application under caregiver I had to list out all my info. Had to put it on their application as well as give them a copy of my drivers liscense to send in with their applications so by the time we were all set up they had ALL my info and I had all theirs. so yeah, they all know my address and social and DOB and anything else they might use to F my life up should they choose to do so.

Thing is, you ll always have folks that want more for less. its the NANNY state our government and society has allowed to form. Very few are reponsible for themselves any more as sad as it is to say.

BUT fact is, many of these folks really do need help. the key many have found is by basically interviewing Pts. sorting thru the ones that are more understanding of the way things work. A contract between a CG and a PT can make things much better. puts the situation on paper. what is free, what isnt, donation costs ect. I know quite a few CGs who are using a contract and plenty of patients that like to have one too. this keeps all parties on the same page.

but your absolutely correct. being a CG is more than just grown plants and drying meds for them to pick up. Way More.

Come to UP. I could sign 20 patients this month if it were legal to do. Feds made me leave the starting gate late, but UP is always 10-15 years behind rest of world. We are still working on shit like cell phone coverage on main roads. lol. Pick a specialized patients. My girlfriend has crohns and severe depression. Vortex, Jolly Bean, Jack the Ripper, Cheese Quake. I have a bad back and spinal stenosis from excessive time on job sites. lol. My dad is an amputee, and has PTSD. Killer Skunk, Agent Orange, Dairy Queen.
I am focusing on crohns, depression, pain, and muscle spams. When my dad has his crops ready, the VA should have a list of hundreds of people. Crohns - big problem, my girlfriend has had three major surgeries from it. She is going to start making Simpson Oil by summer and try to work with doctors to get off all or most pain pills. People just start crying talking to here, hoping it works, so that they can try it, many of these people are in severe pain and strung the fuck out by our royal piece of shit health system. If she can ween of her meds, she will have 200 patients begging her to sign. She travels to your area to get meds for patients up here.
Don't let 7 drug dealers discourage you, the state doesn't send you people, you pick them.
Pick a niche and specialize, so you are better set to help yourself help others.

I won't take a patient that expects a bunch of free meds. They get 4oz a year and that's plenty more than I need to give them to keep them. I don't understand people who think they're going to get 2oz/month or something crazy, that's several thousand dollars a year! Also, if I thought they were flipping my meds they'd pay the same price as the dispensary, if they pushed me to lower my reasonable growing fees I'd drop them. I worked hard learning how to grow and invested many thousands of dollars into my endeavor. It's not simple and I'm taking massive financial risks to provide a service. I'm not doing all that to have a patient leech cheap meds in order to turn a profit. I'll grow quality meds that they require at a decent price, if they want to profit they can spend the time and the money I've invested themselves.

Flipping your meds? What the hell are you guys talking about? You honestly don't want your patients to try to help anyone with what helps them?
Like Timmahh said. Set it up in writing. If you don't want to deal with the person then say on this date you get ---, then I will tell you next date. They can still get meds elsewhere. With each problem you have, restructure your set up to eliminate that problem. Like any arrangement.
It's hard to be a caregiver, if you don't know your patients needs. Find out what they expect, tell them what you expect. If they need extra meds, then you work that out.
Most everyone I know varies depending on pain level, etc. If I have a terrible two days with my back, I will use what I normally do in a week, etc.
Every grower is different and every patients has different needs.

Dude there is patents that need caregivers like you. dont quit, just quit dealing with THOSE people. There is plenty of people that have money and are willing to pay for quilty meds. I know someone that will PAY ALL your cost. if you can produce Her high quielty meds. You just need to find a REAL patent

A fair amount of free meds, and an evenly shared amount of all simpson, bho, butter, and cannacaps for all. You just have to pick the right people, never ever strangers.

I would to get to know a group of doctors who are compassionate to this cause, and have patients referred by their doctors.....this would be a great way to make sure you don't end up with people who are abusing the system. This was my dream of the movement as it was becoming a reality.

It bugs me to see kids walking out of dispensaries with their pants around their knees lighting up pre-rolls on the way to their car. Like nails on a chalkboard.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing soon I'm afraid C & T.....the very night any law changes. I'd love to tear down the big lights, and have a nice garden of veggies and flowers to enjoy. Plus my meds of course.

That sucks, man! Sorry to hear you ended up with a bunch of free-loaders. I wouldn't put up with that crap either. I'm lucky because I personally know all of my patients, and we worked out a mutually agreed upon deal before signing any of them up. I figured out my costs, how much meds/medibles they will require each month, and set it up from there. They each get a free oz every month, and then it's a $250 donation per ounce there after. I really don't make any profit, but it covers my costs and reimburses me some for my time.

I agree with a couple of the other ideas already mentioned. If you decide to give this another whirl, have a contract put together that is fair for both parties, and see if there are any doctors that can refer honest patients that need the help.

Best of luck to you.

I've got extra room in my flowering room, and I'm throwing some veggies in there too. I've been researching some "short day plants" that might do well in a 12/12 garden. Tomatoes, green beans, some leafy lettuces, and various herbs are going in. I love the thought of having some FRESH veggies in the winter months instead of buying the artificially ripened crap from Mexico that we get in the grocery stores around here.

Thanx for the words Glad. I am a Whats right type of person, not a Whos right...i apply this state of living to everything pretty much. its more important to do what is right, than to support who is right...pretty simple ideal in my twisted logic..

this is a strange thread in some ways. especially when you compare it to the other thread, how much does it cost to grow a Zip. when numbers to grow a zip are in the sub 100s and even down to 50 and under (labor excluded) yet CGs cant offer some free meds to those Assigned Pts? Its seems a rather large oxy moron to me.

now im a Self CG, and have now 1 assigned Pt, and i will be signing my 2nd any day now.... both my Pts are close to me, and have been for a Long time. part of the old inner circle so to speak. but it depends on ones ability to grow. fact is some can get 8 oz from a plant some can barely muster 1/2 when dried and cured..... that obviously effects ones ability to CG effectively. then you have those CGs that grow for excess. each senario provides for different circumstances.... a CG that has 4 Pt, and Grows accordingly, can still offer some free meds and have the ability to continue on with appropriate donation. but when you take a CG, and they intentionally overgrow or even accidently overgrow, then the cost of each zip gets less, but how often do you see the end cost to the Pt reflected? very seldom...

case im making is everyone that grows, has their own opine on what is an acceptable practice. But i hope most CGs really take their Pts and those Pts that are on Dire times into consideration. We as Cgs and Pts, can not make this all about the Money, it needs to be all about the PT!.

over the last few months, i have seen a growing number of posts from many in between the rock and the BS bulldozer effect that has serverely chilled the compassion we had been building on. Since BS, people are afraid to even help those that need it most. add to that the issue of some are only concerned about their bottom dollar, its getting very tough for many patients that just cant afford to buy their meds, and have no useful way, available space, money for additional electricity ect... or are physically or agriculturally challenged and just cant grow.

We have a Law built around Compassion, and it should not be that hard to help those truely in need, for those of us that have a clue about how to grow, and truly understand the full costs of a grow op, regardless of size, and the true benefit we all get when we put our hand out to those that really need it...

The name of the thread says it all. I was going to fill up my patient slots, and owe out an oz a month. But after thinking long and hard about it I just signed the one patient, and I already have myself and the old lady as patients. So that puts me legal for 36 and I don't owe anybody sheeit. I paid for my buddies card since he is very low income and I gave him an eighth, and I never have to give him anything for free again. He likes the meds I grow and the "low donation" I require, so he is perfectly happy with this agreement. My girlfriend smokes when I smoke so she's happy, and any overages have I donate to a friend who also grows for a good price. Minimal risk and I don't have to dread dealing with certain patients. I had one who was like captain buzzkill when she walked in the room.

100% agree. Your the one that picked your grimey ass patients who are just looking to take advantage.

Thanks everyone. I started the thread wondering if I was the only one...looks like I'm not. I am just not ready to be so public about what I'm doing to be running through patients trying to find a fit. Shit I'm too noid to even go to compassion clubs more then like once a month, and then I'm too introverted to talk to anyone anyway LOL. Has anyone had any luck switching from patient/caregiver to supplier of a compassion club or dispensary? I might try that once I get out of it for a little while. I'm burt out too-it was fun when it was just me and it was fun when I was breaking even and people were happy. I'm just not finding the fun in having somebody say in a round about way that what was worth x is now feeling like its only worth Y for (insert stupid reason or sad story here) something othe then quality changed. I mean there are growers on here and I'm talking small guys not the dudes who are talking about how easy 19 lbs are and shit, you guys are a peg above me for sure but there are people who know it's not all roses, the organic pots are heavy and the lights are hot the plants stink the place up or cost you more money for extra doo-dads to control all aspect of the grow. Ahh, like I said started it to see if it was just me or not. Thanks guys I don't feel alone anymore. P.S. anyone looking for patients there are going to be 3 of them looking soon....STAY AWAY LOL!
