lol, just because it works better for you, doesn't mean it's better, the beauty of an opinion, mine or yours.. As far as interfaces go, Linux literally has hundreds that can be as minimalistic or as clunky as you want.
show me the BEST interfaces you can, I bet they don't even come close to the elegance of the mac os x user interface.

lol so because you know terms like sudo (superuser) that means your a hardcore l33t nerd? w000 you rule!!

Now that is funny. You obviously have never explored Linux enough or you would realize the foolishness of that statement. You obviously have no idea the amount of customization you can do in Linux. Get ready. I'll have screenshots up in a few minutes.

nah I actually have lots of experience with trying to make linux look nice and complete.

it doesn't matter, the nicest example you can come up with will still have a massive fault somewhere that will inevitably drive me away from it. the reason I use mac os x is because it has no faults that I can percieve in my normal use. understand???

The greatness of the mac interface is a purely personal opinion. I installed OSX on my computer at home and used it for a few months, i thought the interface was utterly shit, to me it felt like it had been designed on the assumption that i'm retarded.

I do agree with that, that it is personal opinion.

I don't find it to be designed thinking I was retarded, I find it to be designed ELEGANTLY, in a way that makes sense... things are where they should be. dunno how much simpler I can put it.

I've been using all sorts of operating systems for over 8 years, this isn't something I have no experience with, linux has always been clunky to me, and I doubt they're gonna reach the level of elegance apple has reached for ATLEAST another 2 years. while ubuntu is definitely getting close, they are not the same, there isn't the same feeling of /completeness/ that an apple computer has.

mac is for people that have NO computer knowledge

linux is for people with computer knowledge

and windows is kinda in the middle
so true.
you can't twitch mac's at all

I think what neosapiens is trying to say is the beauty of Linux in the way that YOU put the limit, not a corporation or your money.
If you want to move stuff around and make your desktop look like Ironman's interface then trust me you can do it.

check this eyecandy (its Kubuntu btw, a "prettier" version of Ubuntu)

Linux is about customization. The beauty of it Poplars is that you can make it how you want/need it.

Minimal

Screenshot-8.jpg

Clunky

Screenshot-9.jpg

I actually need 4 desktops, but I can have anywhere from 1-32 desktops at once.

Screenshot-10.jpg

Thats the beauty of Linux. You make it work for you. I'm not hating on you for using Mac. I'm hating on mac because its a terrible company with horrible and unethical business practices.

And regardless of your experience, of which i have an equal amount, it's still just your opinion. I do not feel apple to be complete, i personally feel it incomplete as if half of the operating system is missing. But i also think that as said before, linux, apple, windows, they are all different things for different requirements, you can't just compare them as one being better than the other. all have their usefulness to the individual an their needs so i can't siply make a blanket tatement of this is better than that is worse than that etc, but i can make such a statement based on my individual usage.

I agree completely with the unethical business practices, and all the other bad marks on it, I agree completely.

but going beyond that... the actual USING of a mac... nothing has compared for me. I realize that linux has compiz, and all these thing that can get close to what mac does, but it doesn't use graphical engines like mac does....

the best way I could describe it without offending you guys who use linux, is that everything in linux is patchable, changable, can be switched out.... but I can still see where the plug goes, if you get what I'm saying???

with mac, everything is already plugged in and well hidden into a nice sleek state, that's what I prefer as a computer user...

and seriously, I mean no offense, I'm just trying to clearly state why macs are great for some, not for others.

Word up I respect that answer. You like Mac because it just works for you. I like Linux because I can make it work for me.

it's cool dude, play games on your windows pc or your xbox, leave mac for doing real work eh? because everything works smoothly and scrolls smoothly, doesn't lock up or gag up like windows does, just fuckin WORKS>

You're using it wrong then ;)

I experience none of these issues with windows you talk about. Windows just fucking WORKS :)

Oh, and 57 seconds into the video where the address book get's stretched, that looks AWFUL. And why does the mouse change to a watch thing just because the user tried to stretch a window? or is that some sort of feature, seems to be recurring when things are clicked on.

til you get a virus, or your cache builds up to the point where it starts locking up.... or the ram upgrade to keep up with the ridiculously innefficient memory usage.

a mac can run ridiculously smoothly on 2 gigs of ram, a fuckin windows computer needs around 4-6 gigs of ram to actually be happy. talk about efficiency.

I'm good on this bullshit man, I've used all these operating systems, I"m not talkin out of my ass, it is what it is, I"m here to convince the people viewing this thread moreso than you ;)

I always had problems with Windows. It certainly was in part due to the fact I had no idea what I was doing. I am the very definition of an end-user. I never took classes never went to school. I just downloaded Ubuntu and years later after many learning curves and forum visits(the ubuntu online community is top-notch) I taught myself the ins and outs. I am certainly no hacker. computer extraordinare but I taught myself what I need to know software and hardware wise. Who'da thought you can actually learn stuff on the interwebz.

this is where i said before

i use linux for my work

another thing i dont have a single problem you talk about with windows

did you buy a all in one system with not enough ram to run its own OS?

with proper ram and a decent cpu all under a 100 bucks you wont have a single problem that you occurring

uhh I don't know, maybe the fact that I run windows 7 on the same computer as a hacked mac os x install and the mac install runs 2-3 x faster on the SAME hardware?

but hey, I'm just some dumbass stoner who doesn't know shit right?? I forgot.
