Think We Have Spider Mites (Photos)

Hey all

We seem to have a bug problem!!!!!!!

I am pretty sure that it is spider mites, but just wanted to get everyone's opinion on the matter.

Here are a couple of photos

They are the same leaf

Have been reading about removing and controlling them and just want some thoughts on this as well.

Firstly have dropped the temp of the room to around 20 degrees and sprayed water under the leaves.

Then read that using tanglefoot will help can anyone explain what this is ? Have tried looking for info on it and can't find anything, (understand how to use it and what it does)

Then if they are still bad to use neem oil, pyrethrum, or horticultural oil.

Then for final measures use predatory mites.

Does this sound about right

If you have had this problem before would really appreciate some help with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks tails

What ever you do make it fast!
I had mites and went away for the week end and they hit me ~Hard~ with webs and damaged leafs.
Two plants that were 3 feet tall I might throw in the trash they were affected so much.

GO Go Go spray!

Hay is no pest strips a serious health risk to humans?

Yeah man mites are at it again. U gotta work it to make em disappear but u can do it. Neem oil. Yes to that. I've seen where some guys use it and the leaves burn. It's cause the temp was too high. It works like Hort oil and u may have to lower the ambient temp in ur room b4 u spray. Like down to 75 or 80F. Spray frequently in veg. U don't want mites on ur buds and u don't want neem on ur buds either. Keep at it. Be aggressive. They are.

What works for me is.. Day 1, 2, and 3 :lights off, Doktor Doom fogger.. Day 4 and 5: Mite rid. I almost use a gallon, go real thick covering everything not just the plants. Any crack in the room must be sprayed. Takes about 5 days for me. Then once every week I spray until a week before harvest as preventive maintenance. Just spraying doesn't get rid of them for me when theres an infestation such as yours. ACT NOW if its not already too late spider mites can survive a nuclear war you gotta hit em hard and be presistant, own them before they own you.

Doktor doom bomb and a few showers of azamax has worked for me.

You must also clean every thing....treat the room as you would the plants. And if possible try to spray around your grow area(out side of room)

Don't tread lightly.......ya gotta go in like a Navy Seal an go all OBL on them fooks!

no pest strips are a health risk to humans, use them in a well ventilated area. they will all be dead in 2 days, then just put it in a zip lock bag and save it for future use is needed. my garden is in my garage, so i could care less about the health risk.. they work.

But for these strips to be helpful with a spider mite problem ventilation must be turned off.

They do work. I have 3 hanging in my mom room. And yeah I feel dizzy and sick when I'm in there 30+ minutes. No ventilation in there.. But nothing crawling in there either..

it helps to not exhaust at night, but i run my exhaust during the light period and they work just fine.
Yes i do the same about once a month for 4 or 5 days myself as preventive measures. And you are very correct....they work like a charm.Should have put it a little better than i did,as i was more informing the OP as to how he'll have to use them.

I have to agree with 303 here. All of the other things mentioned except for the no pest are natural type cures. You have a full blown infestation going from the look of that leaf so don't even mess with that stuff. Hit the room with a Dr Doom Fogger as soon as the lights go out and exhaust fans are off. 1 week later do the same and a week after that follow up with another. Then put up the no pest strips and spray with neem every other week until you switch to flower.

I used predators a while back but they are kind of like religion.. you just have to believe, give up control and hope that everything works out right. Empower yourself and kill those little bastards.

Sparkafire....your sig is great.

What i did when i FREAKED THE FUCK OUT......and now that i look back it wasn't that damn severe. Not quite as progressed spotting on leaves as the op.

Doktor doom at lights out fans off.

3 days later sprayed suggest full strength Azamax.

3 or 4 days later they also got a soil drench of the Azamax at suggested full strength, with a very mild solution sprayed again.

3 days later another Doktor doom bomb at lights out fans off.

Worked just fine.

Room was also cleaned and treated on 5 occasions through out and a week after st bomb.

Contact them and see if they will ship to you. if not that use this.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260764431523&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT same thing ask if they will ship. Nasty stuff you will want to use a breathing mask and wear long sleeves and pants washing all after. Do not use after 1 week or so of flower preferably during veg. Commercial growers use this stuff.

Sevin Dust and Sevin Spray has always worked for me. That stuff kills anything. I use it on my tomatos, peach trees, everything. It's basically a nerve gas in spray form. It'll kill any bug within a day or less. It's also easily able to get, it's sold everywhere.
