looking at adding c02 to my current setup (non-sealed) and looking for any tips/tricks to help me a long this process. currently im exhausting out with an 8inch hyper fan (8x10 room) what is the best way to convert this for effective c02 addition. ive read that there is no need for a "controller" and instead use a timer to release c02 for 15/30 min at the beginning of every hr. if i do this..would it be ok to keep exhaust fan/filter in and just exhaust heat/smells out the last 30 of ea hr during lights on to bring heat back down? or would it be better just to seal the room and use my ac (portable 12k btu) or do both?

also read that higher temps/brighter lights is ideal for with c02. but also see that ppl using c02 are keeping temps in high 70s low 80s range. This is a bit confusing which is why i want my own thread to scrub info given in one location. please if there are any other tips or help...feel free to share.

ohh fun
what the other guy said and to add on

polywrap 6 mil thick ......u can get it in a home depot in the paint section in a 20x100 ft roll
u take a sheet and do the walls.....all in one sheet and seal it off with duct tape when u wrap it
the upper part u can cut off the lower part u are going to line the floor with a sheet and then seal that to the wall sheet (u have made a tub )......staple it to walls and use a bit of tape over the staples
the door in and out u can use a zipper thing they sell them to keep dust down in work zone ( slow leak but manageable)

your room is sealed up now .....take the ducting and all that down .......and install a MINI split ductless ac .......this is the rooms heater/ac/dehumidifier
it is a must buy to make this work

the next thing is a controller and a burner unit (what u were thinking about is a tank system ........those only work when u have a large tank like a 200 gallon propain tank filled with co2 )

the burner is the better choice as the gas cost and the amount of time u get off a tank is much better
https://www.hydroponics.net/learn/co2_calculator.php
play around with this u will see
ideal Co2 is 1500ppm when the lights are on .........about a hour before the lights are to go off u want the system to stop running so the plants use up the Co2 and make oxygen for the night run ......30 mins before the lights come on u want the PPM in the area to start to increase for lights on period (this is what the controller is for u set the times and the limits it turns on gets to points kicks off during day and kicks on to keep at lvl)

this is a sealed room ......u control the heat from the lights and burner with the MINI SPLIT .........u supply the co2 gas the plants need during lights on for building power but u have to keep it all contained or the gas leaks out

rem Co2 is a heavy gas ......think oil and water but the Co2 is the water and the oil is Oxygen ..........so the controller needs to be at bud lvl so it gets good reading and u keep the lvl right .......the mini split will make a power down draft mixing the air and CO2 (as it processes the hot air to cool) ....hence sealed is needed

Listen to the cats above. Dont go down that vented room with a tank and timer bullshit. Trust me broham. Thats the way we only knew back in the day....and it doesnt work no matter what you do. I learned all i could about sealed grow rooms and air conditioning that doesnt act as an exhaust (pricey mini split for the win) blowing yer co2 out before plants get a chance to use it. Listen. ....running co2 where you will notice a defined increase (15 - 25%) in yield requires gadgets and a total enclosed room to do it rite. Ive been where yer at years ago and iam trying to save you money. Dont fall fer the cheap out. Do ot rite. Or else you will damn co2 and say it doesnt do shit.

And once you seal up with a good split and a COMMERCIAL dehuey (Walmart \ Home Depot dehuey wont cut it fer big rooms) you will need a 3 to 500$ co2 ppm "sniffer" slash controller to dial it really in. I tell cats all the time...to do gas rite takes alot of initial purchases. And take it from me (ive been growing fer 25 plus years) its almost better to keep running vented and just add more lamps and skip co2 in the long run. For what you would pay in equipment and then pay for power....just add another lamp or two ajd keep running traditional style.

Damn u really think just stay vented and roll with it?
Yep...depends though. Didnt read what you got...yer system. I got a lil buzz on (but i speak the TRUTH with this shit cuz i dont want you to spend big bucks to go nowhere) . What exactly is yer room and lamps and what not?

Ive always wanted a big minisplit. I bought a 28000 btu window unit, just removed a few cinder blocks and bam. Ac in the basement! But the biggest thing is to seal her up tight. I suggest 6 mil sheating. Use liquid nail or aresol glue. Also you don't wanna lug a 150lb tank around every month, get a small burner and monitor. It's a few hundred bucks used on eBay but it's worth it in the end.
I'm in a basement as well...just too cautious to go all the way out and use all of it.

How well does yer window shaker ac keep co2 plus cool air in yer room? And how do you vent the heat from the condenser? Or do you just let it blow into yer basement laundry room like i used to and everyone else?

It keeps co2 in just fine. I run 8 lights in summer and 12 in winter. There 1000s but usually on 75% power. Im looking into a movincool 60 unit now. But I was suprised. Two stem burner only runs half the time. Might go up to 16k this winter.... hopefully
What you using fer dehuey action? Sante fe?

Ebay is the cheapest way. I get crazy deals if you edit your search for used equipment, theres a lot of people out there selling stuff cheap. I got my cap controller and sentinel burner for $200 with hose and adapter. Just got an 8 light controller today for $42. Just search N be patient.
Damn all that. What are you running in a sealed room for that amount of lamp wattage in dehumidification?

Lemme get this straight...Yer running 8 to 12 thousand watts depending on season in a SEALED ROOM and yer window shaker ac handles it all without a decent Sante fe type dehuey? Even at night? Something dont sound rite bro.

First off. ...in a sealed room you should be able to run 12 thousand watters no matter what the season outside if your doing ac rite. And you should have a decent dehuey if yer doing that. Lol

Not yet.

I just let my ac run and change my ballast as the seasons change. Just moved and it's a fairly new setup. Only have 100 amp service here. I'm really pushing it. Looking into getting a new spit soon tho...

Sry, didn't mean to high jack your thread.... since91 you can inbox me
