This is probably why your shit is growing slow!

Ok so i have a secondary cfl setup with only 1 seedling in it. so a week goes by and its not growing any leaves so im lie "wtf man" the lights were about 1 inch away. so tuesday morn i decided to make the ligths about 4 inches away. I wake up this morning and my shit has grown 4 inches and 2 more leaf sets...Now i understand..Why would the plants keep growing if it knows it will get burned if it goes any higher? so to all my cfl growers..dont keep ur lights 2 close to ur shit.

...sounds like your plant started stretching when you moved the light away, ofcourse it will get taller quicker (trying to get closer to the light)...I'd leave the light close,imo.

But its not stretching tho..its also growing leaves. I think stretching is somewhat necessary or how will it get big?

Stretching is not a good thing. A tall healthy plant and a stretched plant are not one in the same.

Those look really good. I'd say you were doing a fine job.

How old are those week or two?

mine are 11 days old.

They look killer! Good job, and it seemed to have worked for you. We'd have to put this through some tests to convince me though. Perhaps it would have done the same thing if you left it close, and it was just ready to turn up. CFLs let off very little heat.

My seedlings seem to always go through a week or 2 of very slow growth then they take off with no changes made - happens indoor or outdoor

Yeah but they heat still builds up cause the number you have to use. My cfl setup probably puts off just as much heat as my hps did when I had it hooked up granted it was only a 150w

It is called entering the veg. state of growth.

There is a relationship between your growth spurt and moving up the lights..... it's called coincidence.

Your healthy seedlings were growing plenty, but it was growing roots so it could support that wonderful visable veg growth.

Move your CFL's back where they were.

They are looking extremly healthy.

Now leave them alone and let them do their thing.

Have you thought about flowering?
