you are overthinking, last time I took cuts i didn't even use hormone, just stuck the cut in moist perlite verm mix, no dome, just clipped the leaf tips. It's not a complicated undertaking, in nature this happens when a shoot gets broken off and lands in mud. At the very core all you need do is break the shoot and provide the mud. That being said hormone does help a lot, I just couldn't find mine that day, and a simple diy aerocloner will root them very fast.

to answer your Q it probably wouldn't hurt, but is far from necessary

Word I made a bubble cloner and did not have good results I don't think the air stones we're splashing enough I would like to build the aero cloner thought proper way w a pump and micro heads and pvc but for now do you think I should go w soil perlite mix with the woods or use the rockwool that I have soaking ? Prob is over thinking I just want roots fast as poss

I've never used Rockwool but I would think of those two options rockwool would go faster, no need to toss what you've done
I'm interested to see how many days untill roots I'm just expiramenting with the air stone in the soaking rockwool prob take the cuttings in am let them soak over night

Root time can vary strain to strain. My experience sativas and doms tend to root the easiest and fastest for me without aid of fancy stuff .. But it doesn't hurt..lol

K.I.S.S. Just use the rockwool cubes, a seedling tray and a humidity dome over the top. Keep a little water in the bottom and keep them warm. When I take them, I trim all growth below the top two nodes and the growth tip. Rough up the surface of the stem a little, dip it in the Dip n Gro solution and stick it into the wet cube, place in tray. Roots one to two weeks later.

I don't bother to cut the leaves in half, I think that really doesn't do anything to be honest.
