I've read pretty much everywhere on here that when switching for veg to flower that they should be in total darkness for anywhere from 24-48 hours, so should I go with 36 for the best results?

Where did you read that exactly?(not saying in a rude way, just wondering) lol because i dont know of any other veteran growers on here that think it helps, mostly because it doesnt. The flowering hormone is broken down by light. When the nights get long enough the level will build up enough to trigger flowering, the key word is trigger, giving extra dark to increase the hormone level is pointless once you hit the level needed to trigger flowering, if you do your just wasting time your plants could of been making energy to put towards the start of flowering.

I'll try to find some links, I know I've got them bookmarked on my laptop, but I'm on my phone right now
But i know I've read a few posts saying they do a total darkness period before switching them to 12/12 because it's supposed to trigger the flowering hormones quicker?

The reasoning behind it is that the flowering hormone effects how fast flowering starts and goes, since the hormone is broken down by light giving an extra long dark period will add more of the flowering hormone and make flowering start faster.
That reasoning sounds good at first, but the thing to remember is that once the level reaches where it needs to be to trigger flowering adding more is pointless.

easy answer: does the sun go away for 24-48 hours? Closest to nature as possible=best life cycle for plant=a happy you with a successful & bountiful harvest.

Ok... Kinda confused..... So just before setting the lights at 12/12 no dark period is required? I always thought plants needed 24/0 of light just before 12/12 whats the best meathod on inducing flowering with the least stress as possible?

I have only read, that You put a plant in darkness 24-48 hours right before harvest. it helps mature whats remaining unmatured. and my past experiences with it I see alot Shinier Trichs on the plant in darkness before chopping than a plant that didnt go through the darkness before the axe. But this was my own experiment results.

My lights are set at 20/4... So before flowering.... Do 24/0 then 12/12.... Not complicated at all... My timer can handle that with no problm

I've read that too, it was something like a 30% increase?
But being as this is my first grow I just had to check it out,
Day 2 of flowering has officially started now, and I'm so excited for my babies to start showing something,
Keeping my fingers crossed for pistils, but even they do show balls, ill rip off some sacks and smoke em, aaaaand then make some iso hash out of his ass.
