timer and mh questions

these are seperate questions these parts are not being used in conjuction with each other

A: what could make a 1000 watt mh stall when it's turned on for 10 inutes or more?

B:ibought a INTERMATIC / T103-70 now i wire it and it don't seem to work tried finding more info on it but just get sales places :(

Not sure on the timer your using Id have to see it as my timers are digital with battery backup. The 1000 watt ballasts have a saftey built in so they dont burn up your igniter.They go off then if you try to turn them back on right away before the cool down time they tend not to ignite right away.It protects the equiptment.

ya but this is on first start-up of the day...i first wired it all back up and came on no prob left it alone and noticed next "on" time took over 10 minutes.......bad bulb do this? dieing capacitor? timer i think is just dead i think i'll have to go take that back grr lol

Does the lamp also fail if it is connected directly to the AC mains, without the timer in circuit?

No worries about the capacity of this timer to handle a 1000W lamp. Unfortunately, the photo of the timer cuts off the ratings section of the label, but I can see '5hp motor at 120V.' 5x 746watts = 3730 W, plus it'd be designed to handle the high startup current of a motor. An HID light should be a piece of cake for this timer.

See if the fault still exists without the timer in line. Just wirenut the leads which are normally connected by the timer and watch it run.
