IMAG0086-1.jpgSo I have some white bugs on my hydroton and I think on the roots but I’m not sure they are really hard to see. I have a picture of them but you have to look hard to see them there is a bunch on the hydroton the white spots I’m going to try and get a better picture of them but my camera sucks. Does anyone have an idea what they are?

Without seeing them better, I'd say they look almost exactly like spider mites. What stage of growth are you in right now? Flowering, veg, etc... Also, how many plants do you have?

There seem to be a lot of them so I would take care of this very soon if I were you. There are organic sprays you can get from Home Depot, also you can get foggers from hydro stores. Foggers kill the bugs but not the eggs. The sprays can kill the eggs, but you are spraying directly onto your plants... not totally desirable in flowering, but safe if you use organic sprays.

So I have had spider mites before but they are in only the hydroton rocks I have not seen any on the plant. It also seems that that they like to be underneath the rocks not on top where it is damper. I have reduced my watering down to see if this helps. But they look white I can’t see any other color on them. I don’t think there thrips. They don’t look like any of the pictures of thrips that I have seen.

THEIR BABY FAN LEAF EATERS !!!! SOON LOOK UNDER your FAN LEAFS. they kickit under the leafs away from the light SUCKing the Precious JUICES FROM HER !!!!!. makes the top of your fan leaves look kinda CheeseClothish.. maybe a little Screeny or seethru even. Thoes BASTARDS are impossible to get rid of, but dont seem to mess with the bud.

Need a camera in macro mode and zoomed in to be able to tell anything. Whatever they are, they are tiny as hell.

I have had root aphids before and I never have seen this small usually the get bigger quickly and i see root damage and my roots are not showing any harm yet and the algae was just in the one pot i use h2o2 for that problem. I have not seen any of them getting any bigger they are still the same size. I Have been soaking them in a bug killer made for mites and aphid killer I think it also kills fungus gnats and white fly’s I have seen les but not fully gone yes I also have been adding azaMax to my res to help stop them from attacking the plat when I cant soak.

There are more than one type of root aphids, like any other insect, there are probably thousands of variants. They look exactly like some of the pics in the link i provided.

Good luck with whatever they are.
