hey guys, i have 3 white widows in their 7th week of flowering. one of the plants though has many leaves dying on the main cola, near the top. it also has a distinctive smell unlike the other two, which smell fruity. anyone assure me anything?

when i look through the microscope, there are many amber-yellow trichomes near the top, in the middle of the plant there are more milky ones, and many white hairs. i was wondering... if i wait another week will the top be affected?

Second question. many trichs are yellow - is that the transformation into amber?

has anyone ever harvested a WW in less than 8 weeks? how long should i wait?

cheers

i appreciate comments

Sounds like the smelly one is done! Some people take off the cola (which can ripen first) and allow the rest of the plant to finish. I find I like the different stages of the plant, so would take the whole thing. Did you start them from seeds?
beautiful pics by the way!
And I would seriously start flushing the one that's ready.

i cut one of my main colas off, and the rest grew bigger than what i thought it would, if the top is done, then...

To take off the cola you just make a clean cut on the stem about 1/4 to 1/8 inch above the remaining branches

the thing is that only about 1-2 inches of the main cola looks ripe and ready. the other 9 inches of the fat bud is still white pistols and milky trichs....

i think i'll just wait a week untill it completely ripens.. will it do any harm to the already ripe material?

It will be fine if you let it go another week. It will probably just give you more of a couchlock compared to the rest of the lower buds, which would probably be nice for you to have a little different effects from different buds.
Have a little variety when you smoke it.
Since it's from seed it probably has different phenotype then the other 2 and that's why the smell and other characteristics are different.

they are all the same strain, all from seed... they should all smell the same

is it smart to harvest the plant when the lower buds are still with white hairs, and the trichs are all milky?

talking about white widow here

When reading the color of trichs, read the base of the bud, not the top or middle. This will give you the best indication as to the perfect time to harvest. Get a good flashlight and if you move the light just right, you will be able to see the color perfectly. It's hard to to see anything low on a bud due to the lack of light so the flashlight comes in handy.

its so wierd... the WW plant which now smells like rotten vegetable matter, used to smell so fruity and delicious, like proper weed... i dont know if something went terribly wrong, or if its just the strain...

i harvested a single WW at about 7 weeks, with mostly clear trichs... the smoke was pretty decent, and actually quite good after a cure, but nowhere near as good as the WW that i flowered for @10 1/2 weeks
