To flush or not to flush that is the question! (Pre harvest)

So I'm not sure where I found it but it was a basic breakdown of plants and how nutrients go up and down them and how flushing effects that and how if you drown your plants (like literally put them in water (just the roots)) they will start to "cure" while still alive by creating alcohol from the sugars they have in order to live a little bit longer. I guess that's how plants survive a flood. If anyone knows the post please for the love of god. Break it down in lamens terms for me. Do I flush? Do I taper off my nutes? Do I take my effing pot and sit it in the bathtub full of water for 3 days in the dark? WTF?! I need Science! SCIENCE!!

just flush with water in your pot for 7-10 days, allowing for 30% run-off.. then you can do whatever before you harvest.. i like to flush for about 7 days and then let it get dry for 3 days and chop.. Never done the 36 hour darkness thing before.. Mainly because I have respect for my plants and I dont want it to suffer before I kill it.. Thats like torture..

Can I just say something? I don't want to start "shit"..or be an asshole... but here's what I am having a problem with.

I grow for cancer patients.

Have you ever met someone who needs this as REAL medication?

You should do whatever you can to get the most out of the plants for the sake of - getting the most out of your plant.
You lose sleep if your plant is in the dark for 2 days before you chop it down cause you think the plant has a nervous system and feels any kind of "pain"?.. yet we all chop the fuck out of them to clone them, and they turn out to give us more yeild when we do.. (when you top, super crop, fim, LST [super crop - means grabbing the branch and bending the fucker over to create a break in the stem - which sounds way worse than letting the THC build up in the trichomes due to the fact that light isn't degrading it for the last 48 hours until you chop.] it ALL makes the plant grow bigger, stronger, and more potent.. maybe you should start to think of MJ as a masochist.. at least then you would be providing better advice. Honestly.. with all the "meat is toture" shit, now you are going to start a "plant feels pain" thing.. what are all the vegans going to do now?

Other than that.. dead on with the flush advice in my opinion.. I like 10 days personally. (But isn't starving your plant of food for more than a week toture too by the same logic?)

I've never officially "flushed" I do like to stop fertilizing about a week before I chop, or more.

It's all personal preference. If you want to fertilize to the last minute, and then wash out the excess, or just stop a couple weeks earlier and water with just water.

Either way it will be good smoke.

Why would someone pick a name like Cowell or use that avatar if he "didn't" want to start shit or be an asshole?

i dont know that we have scientific evidence to suggest plants dont feel pain or have feelings. in fact i heard of an experiment where they hooked up a plant to a lie dectector and when someone was going to burn the leaf the needles on the maqchine jumped everywhere

I think the point is, if someone doesn't want to use deprivations techniques on his plants, who is anyone else to tell them they're wrong? Growing for cancer patients, even if true, doesn't make one a better grower and certainly not morally superior.

I think the point isn't whether someone wants to use different techniques or not.. I'm calling into question the fact that one CAN manipulate their plant and that it's not torture.

My wife is a cancer survivor.. my neighbor is a cancer survivor, and a close family friend is.. I grow for them. No one said I was morally superior for taking care of family and friends.. and the fact that I research and know how to take care of my plants most certainly DOES make me a better grower if I can get better yeilds of higher potency pot using the same genetics as someone who doens't know what they are doing. How else does one quantify that?

Go troll elsewhere :)

Get a n-p-k test kit dont flush 1 plant, flush another for a week and another plant for two weeks use the test kit on the leaves that will get you some scientific backing...... I water use only for last 16-21 days if i water every 3-4 days thats 4 to 5 waterings without nutes and my weed is the cleanest weed ive smoked in my life I dont even smoke anybody elses.
