Too bright for webcams?

I have a pc grow box with 4 cfls, and I want to know how to get a web cam to work with all that light in there.

I am no expert but i tried messing around with all the settings I could think of and still could not get my web cam to have a decent view

Are there specific models or any companies that make webcams that can work in a super bright area?

*I've thought of maybe putting up a small mirror behind the tower and having the cam look at the mirror... but I would rather have it in the case

turn the lights in the grow room off and have an external light ( light behind the cam shining on the room

The Cam I use is a DXG it takes pic's, video and doubles as a web cam (via software & cable) it also plays mp3's :bigjoint: cost $59.95

is auto iris a general thing or a specific companies product? like is there a usb auto iris? or is auto iris just the name of a function?

which model dxg do you have specifically? can it maintain power and functions through a connection to the computer?

ps: is there perhaps some kind of filter i can put over my web cam to block most of the light without making everything super hard to see?

mine runs on batteries, but they make several models

and auto iris (think iris in your eye, does the same thing) is a feature as well as a function

any cam with an auto iris will show pics in high light

could try a lens from dark sunglasses
