Too busy to open ur jars while curing! Here is the solution... Ur 2 Cents!

i recently read mr2shim's thread "Leaving town curing issue" and i wanted to share a simple way i used in the past and that worked well for me! cure ur buds automaticly when u dont have time to check on them. all u gotta have is air pump a jar and a timer 3 things that mostly all growers have home.

1- Take the jar and make 2 holes ( one for the air pump tube and one small for air outlet ).
2- cover the outlet hole with a paper towel layer to stabilize humidity while the pump is not working.
3- install the air pump tube in the hole and seal with some glue.
4- Plug ur air pump to ur timer and set it for twice 10 min/ day (or whatever ur methode is).
5- Go do whatever u wanna do while ur buds cure nicely

i already tried and it worked! anyways it's better then having mold when u can't check on ur jars!

that's one of best ideas I've seen on here.. the only other thing I'd do is put a Caliber hygrometer in the jar to see where your RH is at so you could set your timer correctly. Also you do want to go too long because you'll bee needing to ventilate less as time goes on.

There must be an easier way.

I'm never too busy to burp my babies.

The cure is the most important step of good ganja.

Nice idea though.

I feel like if you could put a flapper valve on the exhaust hole it would help. That way the jar is 100% closed when pump isnt running allowing for evening out humidity.

Or a check valve from an aquarium, 99 cents. It would let the pump push air out, and not let any back in.

Very nice idea!! That will replace the paper towel layer and give a perfect burp!!

i'm taking ur suggestions guys! lol a 2.0 Version is about to come out for a nice auto-cure!! thanks farmers... tomorrow ill build one with the valve and i'll add an hygrometer inside! ill post pics!

Yeah! I was going to ask if anyone was using the humi-pks. i would like to see that test. That's the worst part of the whole deal for me,never comes out like I want.

Slow cold dry cure for 2 weeks hanging and you wont need to burp or cure, trim and smoke............

I'd make sure the air pump isn't passing in any oil/funk........ I know my air tubing had some blackish buildup after use over time... Think along the lines of air compressors... they have inline water traps/filters to get rid of moisture/contaminants before going into the tools... Something along those lines would be nice but scaled down to our needs... You could rig a moisture-trap pretty easily and if you're handy you might be able to craft a filter in your trap....

My best results have been using a slow dry. Hang dry until leaves are wilted (about 3.5 days where I am). Then use big, square, shallow, tupperware bins with covers to do your burps. Spread the buds out in the bins and then alternate between cover off for 12 hours and then cover on for 12 hours. When you feel things are starting to get ready start doing checks with a hygrometer overnight with some samples. Make sure you get a baseline reading on your hygrometer though. In other words, right now an empy jar in my house with a hygrometer in it will give a reading of 64%. I wouldn't expect you to be able to get your hygrometer to give you a reading much below that if at all below that starting point once you add the buds. Therefore when I get a reading around 65 to 67% I go for the month long cure. Some may say that sounds like too high of an RH to cure but remember my empty jar with a hygrometer in it gives a reading of 64%. As long as it's under 70% and the buds seem good to go I jar em up.
I've had really good results with this method. Better results than with a two week hang dry and better than burping in jars which I really think is hard since buds at the top of the jar get more air than the buds at the bottom.
One thing to keep in mind is to not mention time tables in a blanket sense. Everybody is in different locations with different environments that we're drying and curing in. A guy in CO is going to have different time frames than a guy in FL.

I like the pump air out idea from meta.... As the bud is expelling the chloryphl gases, I think it will fill the jar cavity with stinkers that should be vacated... Only problem I see with this is not getting the buds to shuffle around so they aren't constantly touching the same location, I think that make a the stinky part 2 ass swell....
