Too much in too little?

I'm building my closet grow and the dimensions are 8' tall, 3' deep, 4' wide.

My idea is dividing the closet to make the top 3 feet a CFL mother/clone chamber. Fair enough, now I want to also divide the bottom into a left and ride section, two flower chambers.

__________
|--clones--|
|----------|
=========
|-400|400-|
|-.....|.....-|
|_________|

The thing is I want to know if 400w hps on each side is too much? that would be a 2x3x5 section, I think it will be just adequate for the space.

My other real problem is I was just planning on venting to the addict, I mean there is no where else to go. The problem is I'm renting this house with my room mate, whose parents own the place. He doesn't want me cutting a hole in the ceiling, any other way I can vent. It's needed as heat and stank, the girls I have going now already stink the entire house. Is my best bet to try to convince him and if not just do it anyway?

no man dont ruin someone else house, especially against his wishes, make carbon filter and buy an ionic breeze, dont start cuttin into the roof

I have to agree XXgmrXX , although I`m renting and I did vent to the roof by cutting acouple of 4inch holes, But if you have the money I strongly suggest a (Uvonair Ultraviolet Ozonator ) the 3000 model will suffice for your little grow op along with killing off any other bad smells , airborn molds and bacteria that are harmful for your plants and yourself, I bought one last year to get rid of the stail cigertte smell that my girl hates when I smoke inside and come to find out it took care of the other smells my grow was producing as well, . If you have ever smelled that dusky smell right before a summer rain storm ,thats what it smells like when it nuetralizes the odor, Heres a link to a site that sells them ( Uvonair Ultraviolet Ozonators from 4 hydroponics.com by Growco Indoor Garden Supply ) About $195.00 + shipping . Good luck with your grow these little babies are the Boom on odor control I`ll swear by them.

Nah, 200 bucks to clean my air is way too much right now, doing a 'budget grow' want to vent thru that diy carbon sock idea. I think I've found a good enough excuse, make a new entrance to the attic from this room, the attic entrance is already in my room mates closet. So I think I'm going to cut a panel door, one with my airway holes and one normal.

So the main other question, 800w (2x400w) in that 4x3x5 should be fine? I've never used that much hid light before and wasn't sure if that was the best root, either the two 400w chambers or one big 1000w even?

Did you make a grow box? Or is it just the space inside your closet? If its a grow box you just need to push the hot air out... just leave your closet door open. Also 400w is good enough for both the vegatative and flowering stage. You should also have at least 400w cfls at the top. You really shouldn't look at it in wattage but rather in lumens. Each of you plants should have at least 2500 to 3000 lumens each. This means if you have a 2'x2' of space you would have 4 square feet.. 3,000 lumens x 4 sf is 12000. So yeah just do that and you should be fine. As far as cheap ventilation I'm still looking for that...

I wasn't even thinking straight Silver, thanks. don't make the closet a box, build separate units. More control.

I was think 12 girls per light, 6" veg sog. I don't know soil or water tho.. I need a cheap DIY hydro. I was thinking dutch with air stones. Not sure, still investigating.

Just get a DWC (Deep Water Culture) system... they are by far the cheapest hydro systems around. You probably could actually just build your own. If you don't have a lot of experience in hortaculture I would personal use soilless mix which is still hydro but easyer. Soil can be tricky and other hydroponic systems can be really complicated.

Yeah just make sure your lights don't heat up the water. You can get a water chiller though.. the temp should be between 70-76 degrees. Oh and get a small air pump with an air stone to pump filtered air into your water. The roots will grow nice and big.. I would probably try and find a medium sized tub. If you look into hydroponic books you'll find a lot more information than cannabis growing books.

I have 6 35-45 gallon tubs, I think the 45g are just a few inches to long to fit side by side, so two ~40g. I also have extra pumps and new stones from my 150g fish tank <3. One pump & two long stones per tub? These stones make lots of really small bubbles so should be good for them. I really like the method with the sprayers, but this will work for now.

Nearest hydroponic store where I live is over 50 miles away. So I have to order most things online. Best recommendation for nutrients?

My mothers (hope no dads) are about 2 weeks so once my current ladies finish in the next month I should know if they are female and be ready to make the first batch of real clones... the mums will be soil, lots of blue light I have over 400w of tubes, half of them being T5HO, clones will live off this for there short veg.
