Too Much Wattage?

hey there,

i have a 2'x4'x8' closet i'm turning into a grow space. Nothing out of the ordinary really. just another SOG in a DWC hydro setup. Mylar walls and no c02. i was thinking about trying to set up a 1000w HPS in there but i'm pretty worried about the heat. What do you think?

i'm planning on building the cool tube from the DIY section and i'd install a 6" 424 cfm inline fan system with a carbon filter. Will it still get too hot????

give it a test run before your plants are in there and see what the temps get up to. If you can keep it cool then use it

I don't think it would be "too much". But it is more than likely more than enough, if you know what I mean. A 600w bulb would probably suffice but there is no reason why you can't try the 1000w if you have a good return policy at your local grow shop.

i have a 1000watter in a 3x2 closet with the same exact set-up. Temps are a lil high at 85f but it think its well worth it. Your buds will be hard as rocks, and lower buds will develop far better also

Plants can only take so much light. Shoot for 6-8k lumen per sq'. You have 8 sq', a 1kw light will supply 15k lumen per sq', which is about twice what you need. Shoot for a 400w or a 600w. Even with these, you are going to need to have adequate ventilation. Your temps should not exceed 80 degrees unless you are using co2, in which case you can go up to 85 degrees.

You'll probably have to keep the door open when the light's on, but a 450CFM fan should do the trick...

Idk why everyone tries to cram a garden in a closet... If you have a 4x4 area that you aren't using somewhere in your house, put it to good use, you'll be able to move around the plants, and have a lot less issues.

Good luck...:leaf:
