I'll be lucky to be here in 5 years......lol! I likely will never see that break even point.

while all this may be true, I think people who use cobs wont use them for five years. they will stay on top of the newest best gear they can. so long term testing funny to me. I don't think I ran a light system with the exception of my SE HPS's for more then two years. .

so yeah will it stay lit that long, but in 5 years there will be something much more efficient, brighter, spec's that you will want to buy anyway.

if there is original owner running 3590's in five years its will be a miracle, to withhold the temptation to upgrade.

for the most part take a point on the chart and double/triple/quadruple the wattage

i.e 4 x 1825 would be 8.8 ppfd/W @ 160W instead of 140

what you propose gets expensive. 1212s are just cheap as heck tho.

5 of the 1212s are $60 and its destroying the $46 CXB3590... almost 2.5x the watts at the same efficiency

cost per watt goes way down and youre not stuck running your expensive CXBs at 20-50W/ea

but the 1212s .... oh

so like 3 x 1212s at 15w each instead of a 3590 at 1400mA?

when u say ppfd is that measured in a m2 as in ppf?

per their sales terms they should be shipping this week, but i threw a lot of wildcards at them with the samples in terms of different colors and cris so that might delay it a bit
