Top shelf strains

Jack Herer was breed by Jack Herer, other breeders use it too including Sannie who has been working on it for over 10 years.
Nope. Sensi seeds is the original breeder. Ben Dronkers named it after Jack Herer as a tribute to his book and his activism on behalf of cannabis

I would say most of your strains have top shelf potential and being that you say your a noob I would guess that you just didn't grow them to there potential. I would find a grow journal on here thats from a reputable grower and follow what they do as close as possible and then tweek it to your needs. Also a proper cure will make all the difference and some can take longer to cure. Here is a great link to doing a perfect cure every time, I have been growing for about 10 years now and I have to say this is the easiest and best way I have come across. Also a lot of strains take longer then they say they do so go by when it looks done and not by a specific date you expect it to be done.

A perfect cure every time

I always thought Jack Herer was a Cali strain. Thx for the info.
People from California think all of the strains in Cali originate there like OG and Chemdawg which is not the case, there cuts come from all over the country and the world. You would think that people from a state that produces 33% of the country's herb would be more educated on the subject.

Keep thinking that but anyone who knows anything about the Chemdog, Diesel, and OG backgrounds know they originated in the East by way of some bag seed out of some dank from Colorado. First you were under the impresion that Jack Herer, which is fully documented and easy to find info on, originated in Cali and now OG. Your logic is exactly why I laugh at most Cali weed heads, most of you don't know anything.

The Diesel Breakdown

By Jason King - Wednesday, February 22 2006

I write this in hopes of clearing the mass confusion on the Diesel lineage. I have the real story from the actual folks responsible for Diesel. The Diesel came from a seed that was found in a bag of the insanely delicious Colorado Indica known as ChemDawg (Cannabible 2, page 46). Two friends met on a Grateful Dead tour in ?91 (thank you Jerry!), and a pound of the majestic ChemDawg ? whose own lineage is still somewhat of a mystery ? containing 12 seeds made its way to Massachusetts. As for the father of those seeds, this much is known: The person who had the ChemDawg in Colorado was growing only ChemDawg, so the father was probably a ChemDawg male or hermaphrodite. The seeds found in the legendary pound bag were grown out, and from this came some truly phenomenal ganja. At this point, another good friend was met on a Phish tour (thanks boys!) and clones of the awesome ChemDawg offspring were passed on to this lucky new friend. The new growers, from New York City, didn't like the name ChemDawg, so they started calling it The Diesel. This is the Diesel that some of us are lucky enough to know and love today. A couple of years later, a Super Skunk x Sensi Northern Lights was crossed with the newly named Diesel, and thus Headband, Daywrecker Diesel, and Diesel #1 (Cannabible 1, page 65) were created. Soon after that, a hermaphrodite Massachusetts Super Skunk pollinated the Diesel, and from the seeds created, the Sour Diesel was born. Then there's OG Kush, which is a sister to Sour Diesel. Several newer crosses have been made by the original Massachusetts ChemDawg family, and they are featured here.

Unfortunately, Soma's "NYC Diesel" barely, if at all, resembles the real Diesel. It has more of a citrus flavor, and is much weaker than the real Diesel. The thing that I love so much about the original Diesel and its hybrids is the aftertaste. Don't get me wrong, the exhalation is almost orgasmic, but it's after the smoke stops coming out that you notice a sour fuel flavor that just coats your entire mouth and throat. It's freakin' outrageous. I would smoke the real Diesel for just the taste even if it didn't have THC ? which, by the way, it has massive amounts of.
The lesson learned here is that we should all be very thankful to both The Grateful Dead and Phish, not only for their awesome music, but also for all the great connections that were made on their tours

IMO Top shelf is well grown weed regardless of seed name or breeder .. you can take bagseed and do wonders with it... if you know how to grow

LOL Hey I am up here in Wa state growing Northern Lights! That is from the Seattle area so I am good, and it has won many cups. And most indoor strains have a little NL in them. GL guys on finding the "Top Shelf" but I think it is a matter of opinion and ability to grow. But good genetics is important too!!

Although they do produce 33% of the actual herb, they are still responsible for 93% of the ego as it pertains to weed. In the end as an objective observer 10 years from now the pot mecca wont be California but rather Colorado for the best stuff. Its inevitable, btw i'm in Hawaii so i am not biased.

First of all you can't grow any marijuana in the ocean or even in ocean water, or to be close to the ocean you can't grow marijuana in sand or rocks that are next to the ocean and its water that would kill pot... First time i've heard someone try to claim that OG stood for Ocean Grown. Also even if it WAS ocean grown it sounds like you would deny that oregon and washington touch the ocean....

Unless you created it, does it really matter where these strains are from? I don't think so because personally I like to think that your final product is 90% genetic, 90% grower skill ;).

You should get out more. I grew up in Riverside Cali and move up to Washington. I have been all over the US and trust me Southern Cali is one of the biggest shit holes I have ever been in! Right next to Norfolk Va. As for their weed I don't know, but everyone has that home town pride.

Just like the alchemists of old could not turn lead into gold, you can't turn a turd into a diamond. A seed from some dirt weed is going to grow dirt weed. Sure you might be able to make it almost smokeable dirt weed but it's still dirt weed. On the other hand you can take a top quality seed or clone and grow a very disappointing plant. I've grown bagseed from decent smoke and turned it into pretty damn good smoke, way better than it's parent. I've also gotten seeds from a seedbank that disappointed me even thought the grow itself was good, the smoke was only so-so. Genetics are of the utmost importance but so is your growing ability and your grow environment.

Top shelf is in the eye of the beholder. I do however agree it must have a greater thc content than fifteen percent.

Really? Plants don't like salt water? I never knew that.
