Toping my plants

So I have my plants outside in pots, there about a foot or more in height and everyone I talk to says I should "top" them. They look healthy to me, a bit "scrawny" like the stem isn't real thick however the leaves are real big. How should I go about topping them if I should at all. I'll get some pics up so you can have a better look at em.

topping is simple, but you could also FIM, just as easy, what you do is the new growth on the very top of the stem, you upen up the little things and cut it with a razor or knife or scissors... to top you cut it all off... to FIM you only cut 3/4ths off.

I would not top them. I dnt think it makes more bud. All it does is stress the plant. I would tye the plant down. So take the top of the plant and bend it down and tye it.

Many experienced growers dont top there plants.

I concur. Pruning, topping and fimming should be reserved for when space is an issue. Outside, unless security is a concern, let them grow!

Well, I am just worried that the stem cannot support the weight of the leaves. The plants themselves are starting to show a little bend in them. I know the growth is good, they look healthy, just a little top heavy.

Space is not an issue, I believe that they are heathly they just look real top heavy hence the thought of "topping" I gotta get pics and we'll get work done real quick.

I just found noticed today that a deer chomped all but a foot of my plant off. But there are still a couple three or so leaves left. Think it will make it?

for the furture try putting human hair around your grow site, urine helps too. not too close to your garden, but that'll ward of the deer for sure.

What does tying down do? My plants are anywhere from 10-30" right now the bigger ones in 5 gal pots.
Still too soon to sex 'em.
