Topping, LST, and Supercropping Throughout the Variety of Strains

like a few people have already stated IT ALL depends on YOUR OWN personal situation and what genetics your growing. because there are heavy producing sativas and lightweight indicas! so its not as simple as that, these days everything is a polyhybrid and there are a number of techniques you may want to employ for that reason. Someone posted on the first page that sometimes you may want to use numerous techniques on the same plant, THAT IS THE SMARTEST THING ANYONE HAS SAID YET! THAT IS THE ANSWER YOUR LOOKING FOR!!! WHO EVER STARTED THIS THREAD, as you gain more experience you will begin to understand what your strains potential is in your environment and how to achieve that along with tailoring it to your specific situation. there are far to many variables to be able to tell someone this is exactly what you do to this or that strain.

Topping does technically stress the plant. But if you are growing a plant properly you won't see the stress visibly. ALL TRAINING stresses the plant. Just think about it. What would hurt more, someone bending your arm (lst), breaking your arm (suppercropping), or amputating your arm (topping). The thing is, no matter how much you train your plants, if they are growing right, the effects of the stress should not be so bad that they are visible.

Due to space constraints in my tent, I top and supercrop my plants. I don't SCROG or LST because I just don't wanna have all that string or cages tied down and getting in the way all the time. Best way I've found to supercrop is to crush the stem between your thumb and finger before bending, so you don't snap any branches accidentally.

In my small tent, I've been able to create a very nice canopy from my 4 plants (both indica and sativa) through topping and supercropping:

In no way am I trying to argue with you but if you look up the definition (weed terminology definition):

LST - Meamns Low-Stress Training, the technique of manipulating the branches in order
to reduce plant height, expose certain branches to light, and/or distribute hormones to
lower branches of the plant to encourage larger buds.

supercropping = high stress training....

i learned about supercropping from smokinrav a long time ago. people have changed the meaning of things over the years.

by the way, most of us who crushed/twisted the hurd stopped doing it after a couple of grows.

Any reason?

The grow I'm working on now I did some super cropping to a few branches throughout my garden on a few different strains and of all the buds in my garden, the biggest ones have been super cropped. Not the bend the whole branch/snap it hardcore, the rolling the branch between your fingers a little method.

I rolled the 2 branches in the pic out of the 4 total on that plant and the branches I did that to put a lot more bud on than the other ones.
