ive heard some plants dont do well when topped. im going to start northern lights and easy sativa (an outdoor auto-flowerer) as soon as it warms up.

does anyone know if these strains do well when topped or if i should just let them go?
thanks! :joint:

i had another question about my plants...
should i trim/prune them at all if theyre growing outside? i just want as much bud as i can get i dont really care about the leaves, but if its not necessary to trim them then i'll keep the leaves to make hash.

Yo. I raise Easy Sativa, you have to top them. It will double the yield, I guarantee it. Try to top at around the 1.5 to 2 foot mark. And also train the top four strongest branches to behave like the main cola and you will have a tonne of bud. Also, make sure you trim off the bottom branches when you go into 12/12 or later in the season. The lower level bud is shit. It will just suck precious thc off your main colas. Good luck buddy, I have got 2 pounds of damp shit off one plant before so the sky is the limit.

awesome! i havent found anyone yet that has tried easy sativa. thanks for the great info, ill definitely top those ones. sorry for the newbie question, but how exactly do i train the top few strong branches to behave like the main one? and about how long before harvest do you cut off the bottom branches?
one last thing, around what time are they ready for harvest?
thanks man.

It's heart breaking, but it takes 10 weeks+.

Right at the ends of you main stems you just sort of bend the the tops in toward the main stem. Apply enough pressure that they stay bent down, but not enough to snap or break the stem. The plant will grow more erect when it rights itself. As for slicing off the bottom branches (very good question by the way), I like to cut them off in the first week of budding and I will tell you why. I find that the main stalk gets wider and stronger to support the weight and water/nutrients the plant needs. So I chop them off to keep all the plant's "infrastructure" that will now support the massive branches at the top.

If could also offer a bit of advice. Even when topped I have seen these bastards grow to be 8ft tall. Keep an eye on it because it can become quite conspicuous.

Always worth topping i hear... unless u don't know how 2 clone, and even then it's usually worth the benefit of the plant splitting the surface area with multiple heads anyways. It also promotes vigorous growth... my plants seem 2 like it, after all they are weed/plants.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. You're on the right track, and they don't call it easy sativa for nothing. It would take kryptonite to bring these bastards down.
