"Topping" your plant

When is the best time to top your plant?

When you switch over to Flowering? Or soon there after?


Any help would be great

you dont want to top during flowering...youll cut off buds
id say most people top their plants once around 4th or 5th node, then maybe again later in veg.
personal preference but dont top during flowering

i did mine about 1 month in veg.. i wouldnt ever top in flower.

What comes from topping? Would I do it if I wanted a short plant?

Yes BizzareBud. It also creates TWO buds rather than one


So if my plant is growing on the 6th node right now, should I still cut off one of the 5th node branches?

Or should I go ahead and chop one of these branches on top off?



Im lookin to do this to like 2 out of 3 of my plants... unless suggested otherwise

it makes two colas and every time you top and Vs off.


i took and cut the very tip of the cola on mine. and gonna make clones on my branches and then its gonna V off there too.

im in the fourth week of veg as of yesterday, so Im not in flowering yet... i was just saying that cause I know the sex isnt shown till you start flowering...

yes it creates two budsites while in veggie mode and is still growing
you top a flowering plant and two new branches do not occur because the plant is growing buds not branches so youre only hurting yourself there.

i have no idea weather you are in veg or flower but if veg then top those bitches if you want.

so what branch do I "top" off? One of the V branches i assume... but it doesnt matter which one? And once I top, it wont grow any taller?

cut off the top "head" and it will branch out but eventually grow taller

i dont think I quiet understand.... and i dont wanna go snippin shit I shouldnt...

you can top that

so you would cut off a branch as you would a clone? just flesh with the stem I assume.


Or do you cut off the very top part thats growing new leaves?

But would it be a good idea if I'm planing to just grow in like a two foot high space or am I going to need more heighth anyways

The easiest way to tell is too look at your uppermost part of your plant where the top comes out and it's in the middle of where you see the side branches coming from the main stem. KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!

i cut the cola... this is what happens. the black spot was the original cola.. see the cola now is now 2 instead of just one.
