In NY with a medical card we are now aloud to have 6 plants with a whopping 3 plants permitted to be "mature". (That has to be amongst the harshest restrictions out there? )
Anyway i'm gonna grow a few outrageously large trees this summer.
I live on a dead end street 308 feet away from the mayor ;0) Good times...

Indoors, one room/tent/closet, one light schedule/environment, autoflowers.
Start 2 plants every 4-6 weeks. You'll remain under the limit. After your first harvest, you'll harvest 2 plants a month, every month.

I wouldn't be worried about law enforcement. It's the rippers and thieves. Once they know you're growing, your grow will always be compromised. You want to grow monsters that get stolen or some low growing hedges to supply you all winter?

As far as I know from reading the NYS law and discussing/reading with lawyers, towns can't opt out of letting people grow. They can opt out of the commercial aspects and possibly the professional processing/grow aspects.

Towns can adjust the quantities of plants downward to a 'non-zero' number, meaning they won't be able to stop you from growing but it could mean 1 seedling/1 mature per person in the household, etc.

Of course growing isn't legal at all until 18 months after retail opens, which is suggesting late 2023 or 2024 at this point.

LestExpectedGrower you are correct. They cannot opt out of growing. Only a a landlord can if you are not a homeowner. I meant they opted out of recreational sales.
Bam thats a good point. Note to self don't have more than 5 pounds at one location durring harvest season.

Not sure on NY but some states still have possession limits so they could watch you grow monster plants all season then at harvest know your way over leaving doors for them to fuck with you if they want. Don’t poke the bear
5 pounds of dried/cured in home is the NY limit.

From the law:
Possession of Adult-Use Cannabis Adults over 21 can possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis (like vaporization oil or an edible). Adults may possess up to five pounds of cannabis at their personal residence or grounds.

New Yorkers 21 years and older can grow up to six plants in their home for personal use (3 mature plants and 3 immature plants) and a maximum of twelve plants per household (6 mature plants and 6 immature plants), even if there are three or more adults over the age of 21 in the residence.
[...]
Local municipalities may enact and enforce regulations relating to home cultivation of cannabis provided, no municipality may completely ban or prohibit home cultivation.

10 zips and 5gs of concentrate home possession 1 zip in public
It's not awful. Though the town I live in was just about the first in the state to opt out of any commercial stuff...which means that if I wanted to buy, I'd drive for a good 15 minutes to find a legal commercial distro (lol). And I know one town that opted in because they knew the town nextdoor would be a legal-sell town and they figured why not get some of that pie rather than making people drive 3 minutes to buy. ;)

The law disallows homemade butane/propane or alcohol oils/concentrates though. I assume this is so idiots don't blow themselves up, or their houses.

Please be aware the home cultivation of cannabis plants is not allowed immediately. Pursuant to the MRTA, the home cultivation of cannabis plants may only be permitted after the Office of Cannabis Management issues regulations governing home cultivation of cannabis, which must be no later than 18 months after the first adult-use retail sale.
  • Cannabis plants must be kept in a secure place and not accessible to any person under 21.
  • Home cultivated cannabis cannot be sold to anyone and is only intended for personal use.
  • Please note, it is illegal to make cannabis hash oil or concentrates using substances like butane, propane, or alcohol with home grown cannabis.

The overall feel here right now is that if you do what you do quietly, no cops are gonna knock on your door given it will be legal to grow in a year or two once they sort out the other stuff.
