"Training", Burnt leaves and advice?

Okay, I accidentally let my plant grow a little too far into my 600 HPS last night and consequently have a few burnt leaves. They are not too bad because the tube stopped them before it was able to get real bad.

In any event, I decided to go ahead and tie the top down some in the hopes of getting the plant a little more round or bushy instead of completely being a tall plant. I "trained' the plant with some wires by tying it down some below the point of where it was. I have read that one can do this in order to keep the plants somewhere in an area of growth that is similar so that one or two can not grow away from the rest of the plants. My thing is that if I can 'train' this plant which is much bigger and older than the rest, I can just make this one more 'bushy' as opposed to simply letting it grow taller, but I do have a couple of questions...

1.) Is there anything that I should worry about with the few Less than 3 burnt leaves? It is kind of minimal but I thought I should ask.

2.) With me bending the plant for 'training' is it still acceptable to FIM it or whatever that I need to be able to cut the top cola in order to receive multipule cola's?

Thanks everyone for all of your help!

Sounds like the other plants will never catch up. no worries burnt leaf. you dont like the look? cut it off.
Yea sure, you can bend her over take her sideways a while, let her straighten up and top, hell you can top all you want before you flower.

By bending the plant aka LST the would be side branches will now grow up and become single colas or if you top them become two. At some point you are going to want to let the main go up again, thats when I would top it. Its up to you. If you wanna see how I do it you can check out my indoor journals. Links below.
