Training , Defoliation , and Airflow.

I know the whole Defoliation is a very split decision kinda subject. So much RED vs BLUE! .
But Im starting to beleave that people that don't Defoliate , Don't train as in Scrog , SOG , BOnsai , Topping and or in tight space.

So those who do have to, limited by space and or chose to train in those ways , are manipulating natural growth and causing things to be where there not. So is it not okay to remove those interfering things that should not be stacking so tightly together , Leaves. (also I know both sides as this is not something new and I read.) Solar Panels that are not receiving light and or air , die , not yellow but dead green , not consumed by the plant.

So Im not trying to start the almighty argument about this , but looking for insight and maybe a resolution between two halfs.

First two pics are 3rd run clone. Nothing but topped and LST. Other two pics are second run ,topped n trained, slightly defol and lollipoped.

I used to pretty much not defoliate at all. Then I worked at a commercial grow for a couple months where I was instructed to remove all fan leaves except the top two - I felt like I was just killing the plant. Much to my surprise the plants continued to grow well, turning into branches of bud.
Now I defoliate more than I used to, but not as much as where I worked.

Nice looking plants by the way!

Thanks , yeah im thinking I should defol its so dense with foliage its almost pitch black in center of plant. 400w hps cooltube and vero 18 cob led for beginning weeks. But yeah I don't beleave in the whole stripping but im my case I got big fans leaves directly on top of each other.

I try to top young and cut lower bushy areas blocked from light as clones

and train my main colas toward the 600w
I do this also to prevent PM in my little 4x4 tent humidity rises quickly so adequate airflow to lower areas and trimming up here and there not what some would call defoliation

more so prevention cuz I've seen issues arise overnight in such a small space sadly but ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure lol happy growing

Nice plant man. I just harvested 2 beasts of plants that were nrthern light autos. I only LST'd them since they were autos. However i top my photoperiods most of the time multiple times as well as LST.

I just recently (on my current grow) started to test out defoliation. Because i use CFLs and they dont have the best penetration power, and because i notice i was just throwing away the popcorn buds while harvesting. So im going to try trimming my Jack Herer and see how it goes.
