Transplanting from soil to an Aero system

I have a few plants started in soil in plastic cups. I want to build a aero system in a rubbermaid tub this weekend and was curious if it would be detrimental to seedlings to transplant from soil cups into the aero system.

my expierence with transplants is that it sets back the growing for a little bit, but is generaly ok for a plant in most all stages of life, if healthy of course.

so you think its safe for a seedling or plant to transplant from soil to hydro at all? Because i have a 2 ft plant i want to transplant from soil to hydro/aero as well.

As far as I know the biggest issue with transplanting from soil into hydro would be dirt getting into the system. You could probably wash the dirt off of the roots but you will probably damage them doing that. If you have a 2 ft tall plant why not clone it and then put those in the hydro system? I am sure someone here knows more about this than myself
