Transplanting Questions

I have a couple questions about transplanting, but not normal pot to pot or from a pot to the ground. I was wondering if it was possible to take a plant in the ground and transplant it into a pot? The plants is already two feet tall at least, so I was also wondering how big of a pot i should use. And how should I go about getting all the roots out of the ground.

5 gallon bucket. use a spade to dig in a circle around her about a foot around it. just over compensate if anything, don't hit the roots :\

you got to be careful about the roots my plants only a foot but has some major roots that go deep in my 10 gallon grow bag that i bought from my local hydro store so dig as far around the plant as you can and go from there to make sure you dont hit any roots

Should the soil in the pot be the same as the soil that the plant was already is? What would happen if it was different soil?

i wouldn't worry about it too much, i once transplanted 4 5-foot tall plants in icecream buckets, if your plants have been well cared for the root ball should be fairly small. if it gets really dry where you are they may have made longer roots but cutting them isn't going to kill the plant at that size, as long as the majority are still in the ball, the main tips i would give you are, have your bucket or tarp ready when you dig, dig as big a ball around the plant as you can lift, and quickly move it as fast as you can without bumping it too much, and watter thourally after, your plant will probably droop pretty bad but will recover, you will minimize death if you do this in the evening, so they have all night to recover before the sun bakes them again.

as for different soil, unless the ph is way off, like if it's pure peat moss or came from under a pine tree, your plant will probably not be affected at all. just use good soil and your plant will be happy

cutting the roots will stunt her growth.like 420 said u have 2 be careful
have a 2ft diameter around the plant n dig 2ft deep. u going 2 break some roots anyway no matter how good u do it but becareful. she will stunt the plant 4 a few days. the less u cut the less she stunts her growth. i would use the same soil thats in the ground. i woundnt have 1 type of soil @ the top n different type at the bottom. i like pots because were i live i get hurricanes n i can move them.

Yea, well the spot I had them in was safe, until a few kids found the spot, and started prematurely picking the bud off my plant!!! I knew it was kids instead of some type of animal, because the plants are back in the woods at a community park, and I sat and watched the fuckers go back in the woods, coming out baked as hell. It angers me sometimes...
