Hey folks! I'm about three weeks intoe flowering and I am doing a closet grow with 13 plants. Is it ok to trim some of the upper leaves to allow more light to get to the lower buds? I want them to get more light but not hurt the plant. Any suggestions?:joint:

no; the leaves are the solar panels that suply the energy for plant functions. don't cut them off, pull them out of the way if you need to, or tie the plant over sideways.

I read that if you trim off your fan leaves that you improve your chances of making your plant into a hermie.
What say you ?

what about trimming them cause its so bushy that no light hits the lower buds?

Im about a week off of harvesting and some of the lower leaves are drying up and just are in the way so no light hits the lower buds.

i am on week 3 today of flowering and i have the same problem... at first a few months back my plants were shooting up like rockets so i just took top ones that were touching the light and carefully bent it over and tied it to the stalk almost near the bottom w/twist ties off of bread bags.... didn't hurt them at all.... don't forget some leaves are going to die especially towards the end of flowering... that's normal because most of the energy is not going towards the leaves anymore especially the ones towards the bottom....

is there a way you can spread your lights out or even better add a couple of small walmart CFL lights to the sides... i got two bathroom fixtures w/4 lights in each and ran em verticly on the sides of my grow area filled w/those small bulbs in addition to my top lights... try that they're not that much light but you'll get some benefit out of it

I've found trimming off lower leaves and branches has produced far larger yields for me. it allows air to flow through and instead of having a lot a little buds I get 5-8 large top buds. all top buds too. No little shitty ones. P
