If there is new growth that is small under a large fan leaf on a plant that is a few weeks old should i trim the larger fan leaf to allow light to get to the newer growth beneath?

dont trim anything off the plant,it seriously harms it and can seriously stunt growth, shadowing is natural and you plants willsort themselves out

I guess as with most of the topics on this hobby, there are varied opinions. And each approach has its inherent benefits and consequences. a totally unkempt bush may be at one end of the scale and a completely and seriously managed plant with fimming, topping, LST'ing, and even maybe lollipopping as the other extreme. In some circles there is signifcant importance and value placed on the physical form and beauty of the developing colas. there also if done with care attention and skill (read experience) is the benefit of significant improvements in yeild. trimming does have consequences, but they are all not necessarily bad. For me, I like to watch the serious growers on here, one's that run with 10's of strains at the same time, breeding and cross breeding, and back crossing, and and and and...they are the ones that show plants that have picture perfect cola development.....and that comes from living with an breathing this hobby......ohhh....to be in that place!
