trimming the roots

howdy, i have my mothers in a 3.5 gal bucket bubbler,is it possible to trim the roots as they bigger than the plant itself,they are doin so good,hate to mess em up is there a certain technic ? i assume to stay away from tap root? or just start whackin em?

It is possible to trim as much as 20% of the roots base(yes stay away from tap roots) without obvious damage to the plant. It is possible to cut as much as 80% without killing the plant. Neither of those is desirable, but possible. Ideally you would simply transfer to a bigger container, but covert grows are not often ideal. The root base and the canopy always try to equal each other. So if you cut some of the roots expect the top growth to slow a bit and the root ball to explode with new shoots until they are about equal again. Cut roots can be prone to root rot, so take measures to prevent it.

many thanx heise,i will be moving them into bigger containers,apparently the explosive growth in DWC is not the idea medium for maintaining mothers,however the clone productivity has been indeed profound.
just to let you know your informative thread on bbs is soley responsible for saving my entire crop,thanx for that aswell
