Yeh I would say that Its not gettin as much sunlight or as much of the specturm of light when its cloudy. Some rays still penetrate through, hence getting a sunburn at the beach when its cloudy, So the plant still gets light.

My plant get early morning sunshine and then mid-day into the afternoon clouds build up and its cloudy by 12:00. My girl is doing good but not as good as say a full day of sunlight.

I have seen white people get sun burnt on very cloudy days. So clouds affect the amount of UV but not enough to stop a plants growth.

YES, it is slowed tho,
one yr after i harvested i stuck the bare stem in the pot , back into the closet with no light, 2 weeks later i open up the closet and boom, theeres whitish looking leaves groing, TINY but they were there and the only light it got was a lamp thru the light had to leak thru the slats in the sliding door/ i was ver amazed by this, so i set her out in the light and the leaves grew in for a week or 2 then it all died. but still, wow/

One of my little gardens got completly shaded by forest canopy, and is getting maybe 30-45 mins of sun a day, at sunset. The plants there seem to be doing well.
They look healthy, and are budding great. they are alot smaller than the plants in the sunny gardens but the bud development is farthur along.

being so shaded they may have (thought) that the saeson was late even at seedling. thats nice to know tho, I may try some indoor sprouted healthy transplants into some shadyer areas next season in some guerilla growing I have planed. I got somme REAL n ice bagseeds from the best I get saving up.

Actually, plants do grow without sound light. However, they have no 'green' in them, they'll be a white plant, I'm not even sure if they'd produce buds though.

No light means no growth with plants, they will die. The only thing on earth that doesn't need light to grow is fungi. Even people need light, you would probably kill yourself without sunlight.

I have heard plant utilitize glucose better during darkness. So sure.... But in order for a plant to get glucose it has to go through photosynthesis, which requires light. :wall: :-P

without direct sunlight the plant cant produce the various chemicals which are needed for growth.

Photosynthesis
Animals eat to get food, but green plants make their own food. The process plants use is called photosynthesis. We say that plants can photosynthesise.

These are the things that plants need for photosynthesis:
carbon dioxide
water
light

These are the things that plants make because of photosynthesis:
glucose
oxygen

We can show photosynthesis as this equation:
CH2o2(formic acid)+(photon)=GO2 (Light energy ((photon)) is shown in brackets because it is not a substance, it is a particle withheld in an electromagnetic field.)

the glucose (suger) is used as food, and the oxygen is released into the atmosphere. hope this helps :)

Without sunlight the human body doesn't produce cholecalciferol (vit D3), this is what gives your skin pigmentation (and many uses in the internal organs). have to ever noticed that in the extreme cold your skin pigmentation is red/white? this is because the body is producing much less cholecalciferol, because the energies are dedicated to keeping the body alive.

without the production of cholecalciferol you are destined to develope a miltitude of problems from calcium and phosperous levels shooting/droping off the charts, no production of vitamine K, and in anhibited thyroid gland.

almost everything on the planet needs light to survive, with very few exceptions.
like you said, 0 light=0 growth.
