Invites are unnecessary now (and I cant do it anyway, booooo). You just have to pay the $20 per year to be a "member"................. The buying frenzy there has slowed quite a bit so there's a lot of good deals on glass to be had there, especially direct from the artists.................
i wonder what that really covers and what it really goes to.shit 20 a year?
thats a little bit more than server bandwith

I think the $20 is just to prevent "fake bidders", it gives people that (false) sense of security I guess. For that $20, you can only buy glass. For $50 a year, you can also sell glass. Artists who MAKE the glass, sell free. 
Yes, that means you can sell your used glass there, too. However, before everyone gets too excited, Boromarket is typically heady pieces, you wont be offloading a dry spoon collection any time soon................
No doubt, the money adds up FAST........... It's without a doubt an entrepreneurial income, and I can guess where most of it goes, but hey that's cool, BM is free for me and I make money off of it too! Godaddy would host boromarket as its just a simple website with a vbulletin script for under $10 a month total cost.................

I'm fine paying a fee.... But I don't like paying money to one dude whos going to be buying ounces of BHO with my money
If it was donated for server space and bandwith that would be different... it's morals..

ive been using boro market for almost a year now great site, i paid 20 for a lifetime membership before they had the free set up for artists. Then they stopped letting people join for a long time so glass was becoming harder to sell imo and you would see the same stuff there for a while. They just recently opened it back up so theres a bunch of new people and new items on there. Theres also a ton of artist on there slangin there stuff. Seems like its happening. But as research kitty said mostly headies.
money goes towards moderation, theres a lot of it that goes on. They do a lot of work to keep the site safe compared to other sites that used to be around.
actually sold this on there a while back so got my money back. Also got some steals on glass. well worth it.

I agree Sr, but in this case it was a custom order for a boromarket customer who wanted a piece with this exact color scheme. It's unique, for sure, but not my style either. I'm prepping some rainbow jailbird tube right now.

Just scoured this thread really quick and WOW, You jumped in head first there researchkitty and the results have been nothing short of impressive to say the least!
Btw just an fyi to all, BM's fees are just one time only and provide you with lifetime membership(unless they've changed that??) Kitty is spot on though, the frezny has cooled way down to a simmer compared to around this time last year. The only hoppin' part of that site now seems to be the Artist Direct section. Still a great site though and well worth the money.

Boromarket is a yearly fee, $20 to "buy" glass and $50 to "buy and sell" glass. If your the person who actually made the product, the "Artist", then you get a free account by reading the "Artists join here for free" thread in the pre-subscription questions forum. It takes a few days for them to approve you, but it is indeed free and quick.
GlassQ.com is another one thats been trying to start up. They have a couple crappy free videos and then a Premium section where you can pay to see Artists make stuff. They also have a marketplace, that nobody uses. Then they have a Live glass section that nobody uses regularly enough -- yet...... I wouldnt recommend GlassQ for anything for any RIU members quite yet, its still way too brand new, buggy, unused, and sloppy. It seems to be more "glass for glass people" and "learning from others in the industry" rather than a BoroMarket site where its just people want to buy glass......... There's a few people from Stickam who broadcast there from time to time, but the conversion hasnt happened quite yet. Time will tell!
MY TODO LIST on things I need to improve:
- Welding inside seals perfect each time (mainly oil dome inside ridges, laser flame and nuke it!) 95% there
- Bridging for connecting sections to each other
- Better stringer control for reticellos (Mostly size and precision and terminations being perfect for the line work)
- Need to learn how to flip a disc
- Vac stacks with Dichro
- Need to start practing doubled layer work
- Better consistancy at thickness of rballs and their terminations. The reversal balls are fun, but the thickness matters very mcuh so when adding multiple balls together, if they arent near identical, they look "off" a little.
Thats about all I can think of for now....... Every time I cross one off the list, it'll add a few more to the list too.

Not my best work but took some pics nonetheless.
I am however very happy with the fully worked oil dome. If I realized I could do them great the first time I would have done something with the lines on them to make it prettier but hey why not.
Its a 14mm oil dome, and I like the worked joint because it allows the clear at the top so I can see the nail while dabbing instead of having to look over the color work.

Stupidly easy. Just use a couple (2 or 3) male joints and spin em a lot to size it right. Once you use it once, use the other ones next time, that way they stay cold. If they arent cold, they will stick.

Nope! By carefully sizing the worked section of glass, you very very gently size it by using either the female graphite gong tool or by using several COLD male joints to size it very slowly and carefully......... It isnt really hard, just have to have the sizing very close to begin with. Once the worked part is done on the tool preferrably, then you can work the rest of the stick like you would and make the top section. For this one I just condensed and blew out enough of the blowtube to make the dome. I wish I spiraled the color before sizing it down, was just expecting it to take a few tries.
I've seen another glassblowers work who sleeves his worked section onto a pre-made ground joint, and while that does work, it does increase the thickness of the adapter to a ridiculously large size I think.... Still, a valid tech with a different-ish look......
