Trying to pick next strain to grow after trip to Amsterdam -- thanks!

Hi All,

Just got back from amsterdam for the first time, and I was able to answer a lot of questions about my taste in weed, but I'm still trying to get a clearer picture. I tried about 8 strains - Super Lemon Haze, Utopia Haze, Neville's Haze, Big Buddha Cheese, Cheese, Grape Ape, Tangerine Dream and Thai.

I thought based on what I've read that I really would like Hazes, but it really wasn't the case. I think I prefer indicas, but I'm still trying to figure that out.

Big Buddha Cheese was the clear winner for me (already ordered seeds). I felt immediate release of tension and an openness of mind (like the opposite of feeling claustrophobic if that makes sense). It was very relaxing and giggly--an easy ride and a classic high feel, without having a racing heart beat (like with the hazes and especially the thai), and also without putting me to sleep (like the Grape Ape). Tingly, and also fairly functional, but clearly high, not stoned and blurry.

I don't like trippy strains at all. Neville's Haze and Thai both had me tripping balls, feeling dizzy and nauseous. Not my thing. Utopia Haze was easier to handle, but not at night--too racy. Tangerine Dream was fine, but nothing like BBC in my brief samplings.

I can only grow one plant at a time, and I don't have much of a stash right now, so I want a strain that's good all around -- will relax my mind and body, won't be trippy at all or make my heart beat out of my chest, but also won't put me immediately to sleep (I had to take like 4 naps in parks in Adam after smoking Grape Ape). It's gotta be good for day and night -- not a pure energizer, and not a sleeper! Just a well rounded high!

So in short--

Looking to understand my taste preferences based on these factors:

1. Not looking for strongest strain, but best type of high (tension loosener, anti-anxiety/stress, mood changer).

2. Looking for euphoric, but not heart thumping

3. Not trippy at all

4. Won't put you immediately to sleep, but could easily sleep if tired

5. Similar to #4 -- would like to be somewhat functional for light daytime use, not an instant paralyzer - able to have sex would be great too...

I can also obviously do 2 harvests for slightly different effects, but have to have the right strain.

I ordered BBC seeds, but want to understand where to look next, and if I'm on the right track here...

Thanks to all those who read this far!! And hopefully there's some veterans out there who can recommend some strains!!! THANKS!

OK... you can have all of my indicas, and i'll take all of your hazes off your hands then LOL i'm the exact opposite, stony strains piss me off. it's like volunteering to become, uh... stupid. i almost said something politically incorrect.

sure, your description of a buzz making you feel more open makes sense. sounds like a euphoria related effect with maybe just a hint of psychoactivity. it's nice to hear anyone describe a buzz in their own words. +rep for that! highs are way more complicated than freakin' "man this shit is dank!" which some people think is an actual smoke report. it's amazing just how many different effects there are out there. in all of my years of blazing since the 80s, i never had a "touchy feely" buzz until i tried an onyx diesel freebie last year and then again with nicely trippy jack's cleaner 2.

maybe by "anti-clausterphobic" you mean something like "social & outgoing", but maybe it really did have a "the world feels bigger" effect just as you describe too. the description totally makes sense to me, and individual bio-chemistries make a difference. i think i have a high resistance to trippy as i had a sadly disappointing trip i needed to eat all 7 hits of acid i bought after giving 1 to the cousin that scored them for me where stony buds put me to sleep after just a couple hits sometimes.

your experience is just that. no one knows better than you what you experienced. i wish more people, especially in other forums, used freakin' adjectives more and relied on pictures less. you can't smoke a pic. well, you can' but it's taste nasty, not get you buzzed at all, and possibly give you cancer. i'm smoking your report in my head right now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz LOL

i mean thanks. :)

if you want a nice upbeat clear headed euphoric high, DNA's lemon skunk is quite nice. regular skunk #1, at least the one i usedto get is too stony for my tastes, but lemon skunk is neutral with a light twist of euphoria. on the stonier side of mids, but still functional, their sour cream is crazy delicious. i don't like indicas, but that one is clearly my favorite.

trippiness might be relative to the smoker. most hazes i've tried are just similar clear headed motivation with euphoria and just a hint of psychoactivity that makes music etc. a little funner, but they might hit you harder.

i wish i had more experience with mids and named indicas. i get rid of any such freebies i get as well as skunkers. a middy masterkush auto was the stoniest thing i've ever grown on purpose and even that was at least functional. it was really fast flowering and compact though without too much funk. i'd say it's better for breeding or stealth & cabinet grows though as you can't clone autos as they don't have a vegetative state & filling a garden could get expensive.

Most of the Cheese sold in Adam is from the exy cheese cut (sativa favoured Cheese plant), The seeds dont always hold that pheno. Cheese from GHS is BBC relabled.

Did you get a taste of Blue cheese?? OO Seeds have a Cheese berry strain out going cheap, Them genetics are very hard to fuck up

You might also like a C99 hybrid or straight C99, TGA Chernobyl as a tiny bit more of an indica added than C99 but is another euphoric sweet tasteing pot.

The yield is weak... but you might like Deep Chunk from Tom Hill.

Maybe a deep chunk crossed to something indica dominant.

I thought Cheese was a Sativa dom... it came from a pack of Skunk?

Chunky Cheese from Cannacopia? Cheese x Deep Chunk. Check it out at Hempdepot.ca

Deep Chunk is very low yielding, but it is real afghan frosty indica buds. Every indica lover I have showed Deep Chunk x G13 to puts it in their top of all time. Quite a few said it takes the cake. The catch is it yields about 1/3 of strains like N Lights, SSHaze, etc.

I don't normally like indicas much, but I even love the Deep Chunk.

Honestly, I totally agree. For several years I'd been looking at only sativas, because I hate the zoned out couchlock stone (it's fine when you need it, but rarely). But that's what I loved about Big Buddha Cheese--it was clear headed and euphoric, but also extremely calming without being a sedative. I run a small business (not dealing!) and it's hard to transition to relaxing at the end of the day because I set my own schedule. And there's always so many things on my mind, so I need something that can simplify my thoughts a bit! The way I described the desired effect to a friend who had never smoked--What I want out of weed is to clear my mind of all the excess bullshit that I really shouldn't be thinking about after work is over and allow me to focus on one thought at a time and live only in the moment. Some weed I've smoked has done just that! But some heavy indica strains have caused me to just feel cloudy and retarded, while the trippier sativas get my thoughts racing and I always end up at the meaning of life and our insignificance and all that shit that's just too deep to think about every night when you're just trying to relax and enjoy the free time you have. That's why I need that happy medium!!!

canna_420 -- Thanks for the suggestions--I actually preferred the BBC I smoked to the straight Cheese I got, but it was just 1g of each, so who knows which cut I was getting. All I know is they were both Cheese or close relatives, because the smell was DISTINCT!!

I actually have a Female Seeds C99 seed that I was gonna grow next in hopes of finding my strain, but it'll have to wait until after my BBC go through. Almost all of the C99 reviews I've read sounded exactly like what I was looking for, but then a few mentioned how trippy it was--did you get any of that? I just don't want to dive into the meaning of life every time I smoke!!!

HeartlandHank--thanks as well for your suggestions. Unfortunately I've got a tiny closet to work with, so that low of a yield is definitely an issue for me...I will take a look into the crosses to see if any of them yield any better.

Keep your thoughts coming if you got em! Thanks!

I got rid of my Deep Chunk because of the yield. I understand. As far as calming indica w/o weighing you down though... it's the best i have experienced.

I'm with you man, I hate racing heart/palpatations and feeling like you're about to stroke out lol.. Seems like a LOT of weed does that to me though and I just keep pluggin away at it. :)

Appreciate the suggestion HeartlandHank, even if it doesn't fit the bill.

You found any strains that fit the bill stumpjumper? Sounds like we're on the same page...

I think you'd probally be good with a skunk #1 I would either go with flying dutchman the pure or mr.nice Shit there both versions of skunk #1 plus their good beginner strains with good yields and cheap.

I've just done power kush or should I say it's done me ? That's afghan x skunk and it was really nice. Sensi seeds do skunk no 1 which is also very nice ! They tend to be quite fast too! :-P

I tend to like the more indica dominant strains that are hard hitting and give you couchlock, but I think all strains have there place in my smoking routine. Lol! I know exactly what you mean about the more heady and thought racing sativas that just get you thinking about shit that you don't really want to think about while you are blazed. In my opinion I think you are looking for a good hybrid that is in that goldy lox zone where it has just the right amount of head and body stone. I'm still fairly new to growing with quality genetics. I've been doing it for about a year now, and I have a few successful harvests under my belt now. Because of that, I just haven't been able to grow and try out that many different strains. So far I have tried Serious Seeds Ak-47 (mostly sativa), Reserva Privada's OG#18, White Label's White Widow, Barney's Farm Pineapple Chunk, Greenhouse Seed's Super Lemon Haze, and Delicious Seed's La Diva. My favorite out of these has to be the OG#18, but I think it has way to much of a couchlock feeling to it if you smoke a tad to much. Next I would have to say is the SLH and Pineapple Chunk. They were both very good. The SLH had a bit more of a heady high, but I thought it was a solid hybrid. The PC that I had seemed to be more indica dominant that alot of them that I have seen and read about. It finished in about 60 days, and I have heard of the sativa dominant one's going 70+ days. It had an almost perfect high to me. It had a nice head and body high, but when you smoked to much you would go straight to sleep. The truth of the matter is that the strains that one person likes another one might not. Plus strains affect everyone a little different, so what works for me might not work so well for you. Anyways good luck with your hunt for your perfect strain!

Thanks all. I'm guessing the whole skunk line is a good place to start considering Cheese originally came from a batch of skunk #1 and I liked it so much. Thanks!

DNA:
Lemon OG Kush
Exodus Kush

Holy Grail Kush

Thanks!

Just wanted to update this thread to say that I finished my BBC harvest, and the Buddha is still great! Very calming, simplifying of thoughts, and not trippy at all. I've just started smoking my harvest in the last two days, so I'm still getting to know the bud, but BBC is making me happy--smoking a blunt does make me want to sleep, but that's seems about right. I also grew a Dinafem White Widow freebie, which grew really weird (massive colas, but stuffed with leaves, no sugar on those leaves either, which was strange), which also has a nice buzz, but seems shortlived--we'll have to wait until the cure is done to give it the final grade. The last strain I grew was Sweet Black Angel, which I had tried in Oregon--this one is definitely a trippy strain, but every once in a while you're bored and you wanna trip some balls.

I have a bunch of seeds at the moment, and these are the strains I think I'm gonna grow next:

Strawberry Cough - Dutch Passion
Northern Lights - White Label
Purple OG #18 - Reserva Privada (for the knockout, sleep)

These are the other seeds I have if anybody has a vote for these:

Aurora Indica - Nirvana (have grown)
Raspberry Cough - Sativa Seedbank (Nirvana)
White Rhino - Nirvana
Utopia Haze - Barney's Farm

Freebies:
Critical+ Automatic - Dinafem
Afghan Kush x Yumbolt - World of Seeds
Northern Light x Big Bud - World of Seeds
