Trying to replace my HID with LED

I'm not qualified to give a real sales pitch on the sun system lec 315, as I'm only about two weeks into a grow with it, and it's pretty much my first grow. I suggest you do a bit of research on it though, nobody seems to have much bad to say about it

Of the lights you listed the only manufacturer that I have heard much about one way or the other is blackstar. Most people I've talked to that use them have relatively good things to say about them. I'd recommend the light I use to you, but it us pretty far outside the price range that you listed. any blackstar users out there want to contribute to the discussion?
Down grade the hps mh setup to. 400w is enough to grow 4 nice fat plants giving u around 12 oz a grow

The a51 rw150 is $420 plus shipping and is an excellent light. It'll take 2-4 plants through to harvest and only consumes 100W during veg and 155W during flower. Technically it is a 288W light for comparison. You can expect to get 3-6oz out of that light depending on medium, plant training, etc.

Serious 100w to grow 4 plants and pull them number I just don't BELIVE it
U want as a base 100w per plant

Luminous efficacy table
Light typeTypical
luminous efficacy
(lumens/watt)
Tungsten incandescent light bulb12.5-17.5 lm/W
Halogen lamp16-24 lm/W
Fluorescent lamp45-75 lm/W
LED lamp30-90 lm/W
Metal halide lamp75-100 lm/W
High pressure sodium vapor lamp85-150 lm/W
Low pressure sodium vapor lamp100-200 lm/W
Mercury vapor lamp35-65 lm/W

What? Hah

You can't compare light output of led and cmh or hps by looking at wattage. Just like you can't compare 0-60 of a Lamborghini and a semi truck by looking at horsepower.

I tested my a51 190W lux at 110k at 12" so that would be roughly 30k lumens.

Quality LEDs achieve higher than 30lumens/watt nowawadays.

Say between 30 and 90 for led
But u said watts don't reflect lumens but they do Iam not arguing a 190w led is not good I was saying a 100w led on 4 plant to pulls 3+ oz off ea plant is hard to believe

Didn't have time tk read this post but Area 51 is my vote. Badass lights are growing nugs like crazy. Dense as fuck. I have 4 rw 150s in a 4x4 so I tbink 2 of them would kick ass in your space. I got led for the same reason heat. I bought some junk kind lihhts to begin with and still had heat problems. Switched to 4 rw150s which was more power than the one kind and now I have no heat issues. You get what you pay for. Definitly would reccomend a51led.con

So I'm looking into LEDs, now that I got a little money to play around with. I am trying to replace a 600w HPS system right now.

I am currently growing in a 2x4x6 area, but honestly I have contained the actual growing area to probably more like 1x3x6, and with the LED, I honestly plan to reduce that by even more, especially the height; I intend to keep all my plants short and stocky and in as small of a growing space as possible of course. I am not really planning to grow more than maybe 4-6 plants at a time, relatively small, maybe an ounce per plant, anything more than that would be considered a bonus.

Right now I am currently using an Ipower HID HPS/MH digital balast. The 600w HPS that comes with it supposedly puts out about 85,000 lumens. Now, I'm not looking for an exact replacement of 600w as the 600w, in my opinion, was a bit of overkill for the small space that I'm growing in. I'm really only growing for head stash, this isn't really a commercial grow by any means. I'm more aiming for perfection of some connoisseur cannabis. I'm also trying to keep cost BELOW $400, would truthfully prefer to run around 250-300 if at all possible for the grow I'm going for. I understand there's quite a bit to take into consideration so I am all ears but again, cost is the main concern in it all

So I will number my list from most desirable to least and I would like opinions and reviews on each if anyone has the ability to give input in either way. I'm looking for best bang for the buck, reliability, and overall production value of the lights(better buds equals big points). If you have experience with a particular light, please share any pictures of grows with them. Mainly I need a legitimate judgment on what each light (what ONE individual light can do on its own) can do production-wise, how many plants/how much bud can I get out of each light... I specifically do not want to know anything that judges how well a light does by usage of several of them. I want to know what I can do with JUST ONE of each of these lights, or possibly two of such that would equal the same output, for instance 2x 150w vs 1x 300w. So:

~ P300 Platinum 11-band

~ Mars Hydro 300W

~ Lighthouse BlackStar 240W UV LED

~ G8LED 240W 8-band

So far, out of all of these I'm kinda leaning more toward the Platinum P300, but I would like to hear from people here about what they would choose out of these, or if there is another one I'm over looking that is better for around the same cost or cheaper. I also would like to take into consideration that if one light is cheaper than the others that I have chosen, I may be able to afford a second to make for even more output.
I just finished a grow with that G8 light. Check my grow journal if u want to see what it does beginning to end

LEDs today are in the 90-150 range.

That's why watts alone aren't a good measure of how much light you need. HPS puts out more lumens but its watts aren't PAR watts (for example). With LED, if you use efficient diodes you need about 35w/sq ft. If you use inefficient epi-whatever diodes, 45w/sq ft.

Alright, so I'm LEGITIMATELY debating between the different wattages of AdvancedLED.

I need to know, specifically, what each different wattage is capable of. How many plants. How much bud per plant. I have decided I AM GETTING an AdvancedLED system. Just need to know which one yet. Don't need any further opinions, please I know everyone has their own opinions on things and I really just am set on an AdvancedLED that idea is not changing. I just need to know the exact capability of each one. I have the ability to afford up to 300W, but I'm honestly thinking of just getting one 100w for now and just keep buying more as I continue to get more money. Plus I can imagine it's better to get more than just one light anyway.

So, What can I do with 100W of AdvancedLED? Anyone?

Say I want to grow 4 plants. I don't intend to grow them like most people would probably expect. I do not go beyond 1 month of veg, alot of the time I don't even do that.2-3 weeks sometimes. Soil grows so you know they're not getting big. What I have now in terms of what I'm growing is just perfect for me. I have 4 plants, they vegged for 1 1/2 months and my tallest, a pure sativa Hawaii Maui Waui is at 24 inches at 12 days from first signs of flower. I like my plants small and I'm not out to supply the neighborhood, just growing head stash, that's it. Judging by this, anyone wanna take a crack at it?

I see a lot of people are out to tell me that I'm not going to be able to expect the results I'm going for, but I also don't think everyone quite understands that I basically grow my plants as if they are being grown through a SOG, except not nearly as big of a scale. I just don't let them get very big at all. I have two plants that are 12-14 inches. I have a Northern Lights that's just an absolute baby at a total whopping 4 inches....it was topped at the very last moment from having a growth mutation that I allowed to continue up until last minute and what I was left with was 4 inches of northern light female. It's the cutest little thing honestly. I also have that Hawaii Maui Waui that's 24 inches...which is WAYYYY too big, I honestly shoulda topped it right before flowering I feel like. AT ABSOLUTE MOST I'm looking to get maybe 1oz per plant. Anything beyond that is truly a blessing taht is not expected whatsoever. That's all I'm going for. If I have to reduce from that, that's fine. But my goal is to grow 4, maybe up to 6 plants as if they're only one. That should give people a general idea of the amount of space I'm covering and whatnot. I probably should have been clear about this in the beginning that I really am not going for full-blown plants here. If anything, I'm just growing to get myself just a small amount of bud from strains I've been dying to get my hands on for ages.

Also just considering getting the one 100w AdvancedLED as my main center piece and throwing up a bunch of cheaper, chinese lights around that centerpiece if that would be a little better. I'm set on LED, I'm set on atleast ONE AdvancedLED just because of the reputation of Advanced and the production value of it. But what's everyone's take on adding the cheaper lights as extras?
