Two 400 watt lights or 1 big 1000watt light?

I would use 2 600 watt lights, which will give you greater coverage and greater lumens than 1 1K light.

Peace out
2 600's would work better but 200 watts more. thats only more efficient if you're comparing 3 600's to 2 1000's. 600's and 1000's are close to the same price. if you can only afford one i would go with 1000. as a single light the 1000 kicks the 600's ass. if you run on a 240v it cuts the heat in half and lowers the wattage by 36 watts.

i use a single 1000 over a 6x7 and it kicks ass

to each there own depending on there set up for instance i got 8 foot length motorized track 1000 watt super blue mh and hps in one bulb so lets go 6 x 8 = 48 square feet
spreading 110,000 lumens equally across my plants @ 8 to 10 inch height above plants :)) my previous grows i averaged 1136 dry grams per 1000 watt area with this new set up i am anxious to see the out come i have read running this kinda track system is like running a extra light the cost savings but anyways will obviously post my yield differences once i am done flowering

Great, thanks to both of you,
I was just checking pricing of the 600 watt ballast and it is only £20/$30 more than the 400 watt, with your advice and and the small change on top, its a no brainer. 600 watt x2 it is!

Thanks again.
I love a happy ending

leon just look at a 1000 watt bulb and a 600 watt bulb in your hands lmao before you truthfully choose for what its worth cause growing is addictive imo and i seen many people upset after wasting money and turning around and buying 1000 watters cause i can guarntee you in a years time you will be moving up to one of them i seen 600 watt grows and a few have seen my 1000 watt grow and there like holy fck man 1136 dry grams per 1000 watt grow i have acheived i also might add have had 35 plants growing under 1 1000 watt grow with great results but either way sure you will decide good luck either way post up when you get growing
day 59 and 61 pics 76 day strain

Correct me if I am wrong here guys, but the consensus seems to be going with multiple lights. From what I understand 2 600 watts is preferable over a single 1k. It will use less electricity and obviously has more lumens. It will also allow you to be more flexible with the placement of the lights as well. As far as brand goes, I cannot offer much advice.

Happy growing :)
What i would of said :)

2 600's over 1 1K for sure, but honestly, that is exactly what I have been using for a 4x8 area (32 sq ft) which is less than Leon's 6x6 area (36 sq ft) and I am upgrading to 2 1k's for that 32 sq ft area. Besides Woody's science based minimum 5k and, better, 10K lumens/sq ft for optimum flowering call back up the thread, it is also what was recommended to me by two full timers, one of whom is a long time succesful "old timer". He said he has his best grows with 1k's with reflectors "6 inches above the plants and inches away from each other".

weak sauce = it sucks, its very weak.

Dang. I'd hate to be the one who cleans up when they are done.

that link doesn't work. I think their servers might be down or something.

Hi again guys,

Im definitely going with a single 1000watt for now, the big ass Magnum XXXL reflector should take care of things!! How many ladies do you think I can get in my room 6x6x6? I think im going for big bang 2, Any ideas?

thanks.

Don't use the magnum xxxl. I used to have it. Its awesome for veg but it sucks for flowering. It spreads the light off to the sides more so than downward. So it doesn't help penetrate at all. Go with a block buster or yield master. They penetrate very well and will cover a 6x6. If you can find a spartan(german company). That's what I use. its much cheaper and equivalent to a yield master. I use it over a 6x7. How many ladies depends on how big you have em and size of pots, etc....
