as long as you are breathing normally you will be fine. It is the "sucking" that causes dry socket. it causes the clot to be dislodged. Same goes for soda also, don't drink thru a straw. even better, don't drink soda at all, since the carbonation can cause the clot to be dislodged.

you hit the nail right on the head. i got 2 wisdom teeth extracted on my fucking 18th birthday. in case anyone cares, this is how i believe i avoided dry socket. i was a tobacco smoker so stopping ciggs was out of the question. what i did was slightly moisten 2 paper towels. i then stuffed one inside each cheek so i looked like a hamster. having my cheeks stuffed actually prevented me from using those "suction muscles" when i smoked, or at least made me more aware of what part of my mouth i was using. to be safe i went bong only on the herb for a few days but still used the paper towels. another difference between myself and friends that got infections was my surgeon actually gave me this water syringe thing that helped blast gunk out of the wound and theirs didn't. my whole experience was quite frankly a success. and as for tylenol3 + weed, hell fuckin yeah dude. i promise.
