Unbelievably Cheap HPS?

Is there a particular explanation as to why a 400 watt HPS ballast would cost about $40 from 1000 bulbs dot com, and the bulb itself like seven bucks, when a kit/ballast from a place like HTGS would cost more than $150?

Horticultural ability?
Inferior materials?

Any good reason to stay away from such an attractive price?

The ones from 1000 bulbs are just "generic" as are the bulbs. They aren't the best quality, but aren't the worst either. They're site isn't generally suited to indoor growing, with some exceptions. There stuff will work, as long as you arent looking for anything fancy. Also, it is the brands they carry that are "cheaper" too. Look up prices for "high" quality Philips-advance ballasts and you'd be looking to spend some good money...
Also, if you notice, the HPS bulbs they have listed are all 50,000 lumens, except the GE one that is 51,000 but they ALL have the same mean lumens. More or less your paying for the "NAME" as they say

Yeahh, I figured it would be something like that. I was hoping someone here had any experience with them, because if the sets from there are even half as capable of the more expensive places, the savings is quite a bit.

Was just curious.
