ok guys i have a minor problem with my buckets leaking.i used 7/8 drill bit for a 1/2" grommet, and it leaks.i have been reading about uniseals being better than bulkhead fittings for round surfaces.now my question is what size uniseal should i get for the buckets with the 7/8 hole?

Hello FullMelt...

Did you use a drill bit or a hole saw?

You have to be carefull when useing a hole saw...it could wobble and make the hole to big...I have done it...I was able to fix the leak by rapping the hose barb with black tape...just rape tape on the hose barb until the leak stops...I use a little petroleum gelly for lube and push it in the bushing....

Here's some pic's of the leaking bucket and you can see the one fitting with tape raped on a fitting....this bucket hasen't leaked any more...hope this help's....

This is why I always prefer the rubber gasket + threaded PVC, and 100% silicone to seal the both inner and outer. At that point it is impossible to leak and the weak point might be the bucket or the tote (especially if you get series 40 PVC).

Also w/ gasket, your hole does not have to be exact like the grommets and uniseals. Between grommets and uniseals, the uniseals still does a much better job of sealing.

To show what I am talking about..

i used a drill bit,and its leaking from the grommet not the barbed fittings.
Mine leaked from the grommet also...when I put the tape on the barbed fitting it pushed the grommet out and made the fit tighter...and stoped my leak...

is your grommet like the one in the pic I posted?
