Use Metal Halide and HPS together during flowering?

Currently running a 400w HPS in my flower room (about 4'x5'). Gives enough light for the 4 girls I continuously have growing in there. But I'm looking to add a couple more plants in the grow rotation so I need a little bit more light.

A friend has a 400w MH system he's offered for quite inexpensive. Would it be beneficial to add it to the room so I can expand my growing?

I know MH is typically used for Veg, just seeing if there would be any benefits to getting this system for cheap instead of having to bother with purchasing a 600w and then sell off my 400w...

Thanks for the input

hell yea I would use it. Mostly because you really dont have enough light in there for big buds to fill out. And it isnt gonna do any harm.

It depends what inexpensive is and what quality the reflector/ballast are. At least that is how I would judge it.

the hps and mh together will be nice and give you a full spectrum. i plan to use 2 hps lights when the op gets full.

I use 2 400 watt hps to 1 400 wat MH
they say the ratio is better 3:1
I have an extra 400 watt MH ballast so all I need is a conversion bulb
but in My space I think it would be overkill. hmmmm..
I have about the same space as you so I suggest the same ratio, the full spectrum enhaces the grow that much more, go for it

3:1 is it! It is the hours in the day that the magic happens. You can flower with a Mh. Mh and a Hps on 12/12 work great, jump on it and you don't have to sell anything. Running 1KW, the girls will be happy.
