Sure, some people do it. But I wouldn't call it the; "best of both worlds."

Check out Chlorophyll A absorption during veg and during flower and then ask yourself just how much of an improvement adding HPS to vegging plants really is.

true, if your ventilation in the veg room is strong then it wont hurt the plants, but it will hurt your electric bill. And also its going to
make it harder for you to keep the RH up since you be sucking the heat build up from the HPS.

Personally, I like to have my veg room running on flurecent lights, saves alot on the electric bill. Would rather recomend you putting that hps in the flowering room, maybe put it vertically on one side of the plants, this way a larger part of the plants will get light and you end up with good nugs from head 2 toe. just a tip.

I've heard of using both in the flower room which is what I do but I think that in the veg state it's really a waste like Brick says. I use T5's as well for my veg. I use an MH for my Mother's as I find it helps develop stronger and more clones. Only way to find out is to play with it and use what works best for you.

You should try it for yourself. Seriously. I've done it and only use HPS' for veg, after the seedling/rooting stage, unless I need to slow things down. Then the MH lamps come out. FWIW, Digilux 600MH lamps produced the absolute slowest growth I've ever seen in my op. Slower than floros.

I dont understand why it would hurt. I know that my hydroponics store has red-enhanced MH bulbs, so i dont see why theyd create and sell them if they were useless.

That's a whole other topic. Half the shit sold to new growers is useless, or worse, actually decreases their chances of success. Don't even get me started. lol
